I recently bought a pair of Sennheiser HD 558's (I love them) and a Zalaman mic 1, Hoping that I would have the convenience of a headset, with the sound quality of Sennheiser. I was let down when I fired up payday and everybody complained that I sounded like I was whispering, and the quality was shotty. After messing around in steam settings I still couldn't make it so the mic would pick up my voice very well, and at a decent volume, so here is my tutorial on how to make a ghetto modmic: (sorry for poor photos, I'm using my old razr m)

Materials needed: a pair of headphones, 2 feet of easily bendable wire, one zalaman mic 1 (only $10), needle nose pliers, and a small phillips screwdriver.

Step one: Take the 2 foot wire and bend it in half, crimp the end with your pliers, and twist the wire around its self a couple times (not too tight) and cut off the the end so it is even

Step 2: Measure about 2-3 inches from the back of the wire and bend it in (tightly)

Step 3: Put the wire around the band of your headset, take the end and bend it tightly around the other side of the band

Step 4: Bend the wire so that It gets close to your mouth in the way that best fits you.

Step 5: Time for the mic! take the microphone, and undo the 2 small screws at the bottom, and take the mic out.

Step 6: wrap some tape around the un-insulated wire to be sure nothing shorts out.

Step 7: use tape, zip-ties, or glue to attach the mic on to the end of the wire, then secure the cord to the wire every inch or so so it doesn't get in your way.

    Enjoy.

Yes, but a single GTX 770 or equivalent, will start to struggle at 1440p as more demanding games are released. And seeing as the GTX 660 doesn't support 4 way SLI, nor is it recommended, the smartest option is to go for a single GTX 770 and add another later on

    Hive fire: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/120478-hive-fire-watercooled-custom-800d/
This is my first buildlog and my first pc where i custom changed the look of the case, parts in it, and it is my first watercooling build.
I have been subscribing to LTT for some time now and the weekly build log on the WAN show and many builds here on this forum is what inspired me to do this build. So i started to look arround for parts, i drew some mockups in photoshop, and finally decided on my theme. I did not want something i seen b4 many times (one colour builds), i also did not want a multicolour mess so my Theme is Fire. The colours in the build is red, orange and yellow. Most custom parts is in brushed aluminium and the fittings and res is in black nickle.

    Build parts:
    Case: Corsair 800D
    Motherboard: Asus Maximus VI Formula
    CPU: 4770k
    PSU: Corsair 860i
    Ram: 4x 4GB Dominator Platinum 1866Mhz
    GFX Card: MSI GTX 780ti
    Storage: SSD 2x Samsung 840 Pro 256GB
    HDD 2x WD Green 3TB
    3x WD Green 2TB
