  1. I made a bit of a sidegrade. Ended up picking up a RX 6750 XT for $500CAD and sold my 1080ti for $330CAD. In some less optimized games (mostly unreal engine) there isn't a noticeable difference, however with SAM + FSR I saw Cyberpunk go from 45fps at 1440p ultra with the 1080ti to 65 fps with the RX 6750 XT and with SAM enabled and FSR 2.1 at Quality I got 75FPS. So, while on paper the RX 6750 XT is around 20% faster, in practice because it's a new card well optimized and new games can see gains of 40-50% more performance than the 1080ti. Same thing in Forza Horizon 5 as well, 95fps with the 1080ti, over 120fps with the 6750XT with SAM on. I would have loved to buy a RTX 3070 ti or RX 6800 but they make no sense with current prices with those cards being around $800-$1000CAD for only 15% more performance than the RX 6750 XT but 50%+ more money. Anyways I'm happy with the upgrade and it's nice to get 20%+ more performance for a few hundred dollars.
  2. Ended up buying the MSI Aero version, guy had a professional mining operation and ran the cards at 85% with professionally installed power lines and air purification. He had 130 GTX 1080ti's. So far the card has been great 1860mhz with 60% fan speed on auto and 73C under gaming load. Card still has 2.5 years of warranty left on it too.
  3. I don't plan to overclock at all and the card is going in a Cooler Master Elite 130 itx case which is why I was looking at the aero as it has a blower cooler. He also has EVGA SC, EVGA sc2, Zotac AMP!, and MSI duke variants for $350 each. I just want to know if the card will maintain its clocks as I don't care about noise as my gaming rig is 10 feet away from a furnace/HVAC and I usually use headphones while gaming.
  4. He has 7 different 1080tis for $275 and $350 depending on the model and has a test system so I can see if there are any issues with it.
  5. I have the opportunity to buy a MSI GTX 1080ti aero for $275 from a guy who mined with it for 6 months. Is it worth it and is the cooler ok?
  6. Did no one notice he said earphones? Anyways NuForce X Massdrops EDCs are currently my favourite sub $100 earphones/earbuds. The EDC3 feature 3 BA drivers whereas the EDC features a 6mm dynamic driver. more accurate more fun
  7. Look for a used r9 390 or GTX 970 then and call it a day if you cant wait for the RX 480. http://www.ebay.com/itm/EVGA-GeForce-GTX-970-4GB-SC-GAMING-ACX-2-0-GPU-Graphics-Card-04G-P4-2974-KR-/282133006283?hash=item41b07007cb:g:V1kAAOSwU-pXrYjq
  8. what ram are you using and have you tried just using 8GB?
  9. http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/Radeon-Software-Crimson-Edition-16-8-1-Release-Notes.aspx Battlefield™ 4 may experience intermittent crashes when using Mantle. As a work around users are suggested to switch to DirectX®11.
  10. Why not buy an aftermarket gpu cooler like this one. I have one and the temps on my r9 380 (which is overvolted) were hitting almost 90C with the fans at 80%, now with the new cooler they are under 60C even under Furmark and BF4 and its 10x more quiet. It would also aid in airflow as half the heatsink hangs over the video card.
  11. 380X is comparable to a RX 470 so 380X. Have you looked at your local classifieds yet? ie Craigslist
  12. lol my gaming room is right next to the air intake on my the HVAC in my house so my ambients can be anywhere from 10C to 25C even in the summer. On average though its 20C.
  13. Thanks for the replies I use +80Mv on AB and it gets my voltage to 1.313V underload and under 80C.
  14. i can barely think of a scenario in were your gaming PC needs to be on 24/7, if your PC needs to be on 24/7 you would want to get a Xeon, some server drives and a better quality GPU(if the server load could be GPU accelerated that is, otherwise something shit(but still quality) would be fine) because they are DESIGNED to survive 24/7 abuse and are quite exclusivly binned, also you probably wouldent overclock your server hardware tbh Oh ok, I meant like everyday gaming usage because people use that term 24/7 overclock when talking about voltage.
  15. What do you mean by "server stuff"?
  16. I have an R9 380 4GB and I wanted to know what a safe 24/7 voltage is for my card. I searched google and can't get a consistent answer some say 1.3V and others say however far the slider goes in MSI afterburner (+100 mV). I just want to know what the safe voltage is. The stock voltage is 1.188V at load and 1.219V with 20% power limit. Any opinions or help would be greatly appreciated.
  17. The stock RX 480's cooler is absolute shite I would look at buying a aftermarket card or buy a aftermarket cooler like a Arctic Cooler Mono Plus as the stock cooler will get you nowhere and the noise will drive you insane.
  18. If you want RX 470 level performance look for a 4GB R9 380 or R9 380X while they aren't 14nm and use a bit more power. The performance is similar and their price will be going down as they are being discontinued.
  19. So I'm getting the XFX r9 380 OC tommorow for $200CAD because it has 4GB RAM,better DX12 support, and fits in my case. I would have bought the r9 390 but it didn't fit in my case :(. I could have waited for the RX 480 or GTX 1060 however neither of them are in stock and would be $370+ once back in stock in Canada and I need an upgrade now. Also since most of the games I play are CPU bound (Arma 3, Civ V, Men Of War, Call to Arms, CoH 2) with only a few being gpu bound (BF:BC2. BF4, BF1, and Verdun) I don't need a card that can play most games at 40fps in 2560X1440 as I play at high settings at 1920X1200. Thanks for all your help everyone!
  20. Bad news the card doesn't fit in my case it 308mm (12.1") and my case is 290mm (11.4") and if I tried to cut the drive bays it would have to be both, as the card sits in between the two bays. So I'll probably just buy the Asus GTX 770 unless the r9 380 has better dx12 support.
  21. Verdun, BF1, Rocket League, Arma 3, GTA V, and Civ V. I bought a i3 6100 and Gigabyte Z170-HD3 DDR3 mobo, but the mobo came DOA so I'm just RMAing it right now. The i3 6100 overclocked or stock shouldn't bottleneck the r9 390 too badly.
  22. There is also a R9 390 nitro for $300 but I would have to drive 30mins and get a 6pin to 8pin adapter for it.
