This is unacceptable. Any product should be owned only by the purchaser. Any updates should be vetted by a third party before being mandatory or recommended. 

That's awful. The only thing that would make that worse is if the car ran on Windows 10, Home edition.

as frustrating as that is, I can wager a guess why that is. With teslas being designed for the eventuality of self driving cars, a software update could mean the difference between a preventable death or a safe vehicle. not saying i endorse this behavior, but if it's for a matter of making sure the cars is able to be safe, I can understand the move
