  1. Im looking to upgrade to X570... From z77.. My Asus Z77 Sabertooth has two miniature fans on it since day one and i don't hear them at all. I don't expect the fans to have a real world impact on noise.
  2. Grab this program, it might help you find where all that space has gone. I doubt windows is reporting it incorrectly.
  3. What BIOS are you running? **EDIT** Sorry I"m mistaken on how the events occurred on my PC. Firstly I"m running a slightly different mobo Prime B250M-Plus. And i am able to slow my fan down (mentioned earlier) after updating the BIOS to the latest revision on the ASUS site
  4. My work desktop has the exact same mobo and I also cannot use the fan curve in BIOS, unless I turn the fan off the lowest i can set CH1 fan is 70%. I think ASUS have a hard limit on what that header can do when running DC mode. **EDIT** When CPU fan is plugged into CH1 (PWM) it does not display these issues.
  5. Just to help out I think you're mixing up "restart" and "Refresh". FYI: https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help/17085/windows-8-restore-refresh-reset-pc If you refresh correctly it won't affect your files.
  6. My HDD (WD RED) makes a weird noise if its doing some intense reads, yours could be doing something similar. if not could be an issue with the pump in the AIO
  7. Oh ok i use this stuff and it seems to work quite well. Id also look to install the quietest fans you can buy, and use low noise adaptors.
  8. If your PC in in another room i doubt insulating it with foam will lower the sound coming out of the room, unless your PC is a 747 Dreamliner.
  9. I don't have that much to do with game servers and local hosting but i'm pretty sure most game servers run on vanilla w10. You could run a freenas file server for your home storage and use its built in VM capabilities to run a version of w10 just for game hosting. If you go the Freenas route you can search the freenas forums for an appropriate HBA that can deal with 12 drives.
  10. Pretty sure they're using the Sennheiser AVX's still.
  11. As a rule of thumb, if the latencies and speeds are similar consolidate and get larger capacity sticks which will allow for easier expansion in the future
  12. This same thing happened to me when i used PCI power extensions, make sure they're securely connected if you have them. Failing thattry and get a different PSU.
  13. As shown above if you want to change the default location of "Documents' right click on it go to properties then "location" and finally "Move" point the folder at your new directory. You can change the drive letter assigned to your drive in "Disk Management" but i don't really see a massive necessity to do it if stuff is already pointing at it.
  14. Shouldn't be an issue, just remember you'll be limited to the bandwidth of one Ethernet cable as all traffic from your room is running on it.
  15. Even if its earthed to the same earth point, if theres a difference in potential between the PC and headphones/Speakers it will introduce a loop into the system. i had a Behringer for years and this was my exact problem. (not saying this is your specific issue) My Behringer was crap but did the job.
  16. The noise interference you might be talking about could be a ground loop. I fixed this in my setup with a small device called a ground loop isolator. you should be able to pick one up from Amazon pretty cheap.
  17. Also the charger and device need to form a mutual "handshake" anything that doesn't agree with each other defaults to the USB power standard.
  18. You can use a fan splitter with some form of low noise adaptor that'll lower the power draw of the fans. a llower profile cooler i would suggest a Be quiet! Shadow rock LP or a noctua NH-L12 or NH-L9. Maybe if your budget allows some form of AIO?
  19. I had a pair of Asus ROG vulcans and after about 4 years of use the synthetic leather did peel off. Probably a different construction but still worth noteing. Either way you can get replacement ear cups quite easily off Massdrop or scansound.com
  20. I don't know of such a way of doing this but you can do what Cmz suggested with a dual boot scenario or run it inside a VM. Alternatively, depending what you're trying to achieve you could install linux on windows ? See some handy links below on the new features on W10 insider. https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-au/commandline/wsl/install_guide https://www.howtogeek.com/265900/everything-you-can-do-with-windows-10s-new-bash-shell/
  21. Id try this ^^ being careful that no pins overlap each other causing a short circuit and the untimely death of your GPU.
  22. Sounds like one of those things i wouldn't be telling many people You got a spare for me?
  23. Sooo you're saying you don't want to use the PI? Check you Home lab sales as mentioned you might find something but im assuming you're from AU the best place to look would be gumtree or ebay. If you can find some old hardware from family or something might be a good bet too. You can get a 60 day trial if hes just mucking around.
