  1. I can read text about 2x to 8x from further away than most people. So it really depends on how good your eye res is. What else could I possibly conclude? 27in low brightness was a close call. But turned up brightness of 28 in is fine.
  2. 6gb? sounds like garbage. 1080ti without driver updates is way better. just doa spreadsheet of passmark 3dmark score and price. You'll probably find something better. I would *guess* you can get a 6700xt for that price.
  3. can't the system corruption be fully reversed with a systems file check?
  4. I always felt frustrated I couldn't see like in real life until 4k. 4k isn't as good as real life but it's 95% there. The brain has its own "enhance". Before that? like 25% or 50% of real life. but people's vision also sucks. So you need to perform a test yourself. Stand from your screen 2x the distance and if you can rid pixel thin text, then go ahead and go to 4k. Otherwise, do math and figure it out
  5. well it was hard as f to get both sides into the screws for what its worth. It's still not as tight as the 212 evo.
  6. I should be at 80C at 125W. I ordered some mx6 and will try that. edit: I will add that the mounting pressure from the PS120 is a joke from what I can tell.
  7. I would think the baseplate to be hotter if my cpu is thermal throttling and hitting 90C under any stress test without being able to max out every core simultenously. If my CPU is at 90C and the baseplate is at <40C, I would guess my thermal paste is a lie?@danalog yes there edit: I max out at less than 140w and sometimes <120w. Each core can use 20w. I should be able to go to like 200W with the soc's use. I was using <100w cpus my whole life and thought water coolers were a joke. Now I don't understand why air coolers are so bad.
  8. Based on my research, temperature/wattage is in line with expected performance. However the plate that sits on top of the cpu is not noticeably warm. Could it be that the thermal paste I have is a dud? Can any of you with Thermalright assassin 120s tell us if while under a max load, the base of your heatsink is <40C (not uncomfortably hot to the touch)
  9. lol rx 580 that thing couldnt do 40 fps 4k low in battlefield 1 and 5, but then rx 6800 and 3000 nvidia series could do 4k 120 (almost) ultra. what a jump.
  10. Soc was at 1.006v I added +0.1v offset and set vdddg to 1v and soc booted at 1.224v. Seeing that, I restarted computer and set it back to auto. it then settled at 1.12 since. Still got errors within seconds. I enabled gear down mode in the command rate. I thought gear down mode was in the misc item and seeing that it was greyed out at auto, I took a screenshot for help on how to turn it on. But later I found it in the command rate too. So gear down mode is a lower latency option than 2T command rate? After enabling gear down mode in the command rate instead of 1T, I've been running the p95 test that used to near instantly error without a problem for the past 3-5 minutes. I wonder how much high pwoer consumption is with +0.1v soc.
  11. I'm currently running only 2 dual rank sticks (total 2x 1 16gb stick = 32gb total for all sticks combined)
  12. After 2 weeks of no problems with my setup, I was running Ryzne MAster per core curve optimization then at the end, system crashed. GPU would not display anything on screen. As usual with the MSI curse nothing not even reseting cmos worked - but waiting did. Now I can't get the same setup to be stable again so I am running at 3200mhz for now. I know I had spread spectrum enabled before. Maybe I will try that again. Maybe the auto settings aren't as good anymore? My Soc voltage is 1.016. Maybe I should try increasing that to 1.1v. Already tried: dram 1.36->1.4v spread spectrum disabled->auto Global c states control Enabled -> disabled ->enabled Dialing in any timings up to XMP if mobo set them lower than xmp. (RRD RRDL and TFAW) Settings that were dialed down to XMP: command rate 2->1 and tRC
  13. can't boot with xmp on. it resets to off. I have no oonboard vga. BHut will try to turn off stuff ig? @youngblade Thanks for the cleaning idea. haven't tried reseatting yet.
  14. Hello. This is DDR4 that was on the motherboard during a milk spill and resulting power loss/short. I cant boot past default jedec settings. Current temporary setup: MSI X 570 gaming edge wifi DDR4 2x16 2400mhz (xmp 3200mhz) cpu: ryzen 5 2600 Problem only 16GB of the 32GB is usable: \ Also Windows is no longer activated wtf. How can I fix? BIos is 2023 version (retrogaraded to attempt copability with ryzen 5500 which never worked) . Can try latest again. Edit: I left another 2x8 kit of 3.2ghz and identical timings at the repair shop. Gonna try to boot with only 1 of the 2 16 gb sticks to try to identify the culprit. Maybe also update bios back to latest. Edit: Found 1 stick works flawlessly while another wont boot at all. Tried reseting the offending stick to no use. I found two soldered mini parts missing on one side (one was hanging out and touching somehting it shouldnt and upon trying to take it, it fell into a void (then after instead of boot process being stuck on ram, it would just start over almost as if it went in the stick somewhere and is shorthing something?). idk what they are. so I'm bakc to 16GB but atleast it's running at 3GHz (since this cpu is only rated for 2.93 ghz but can handle 3ghz with the magic of updates)
  15. Update: I remove cpu, and there wasn't much but there were 4 pins with some dried milk surprisingly. broke cpu by turning motherboard while cpu was stuck on the cooler and fell smashing some plastic shroud. Huge fail. Then tried to fix it and broke off one pin. When to computer store. Ram and gpu post succesfully. Opted for gpu inspection/cleaning for 50$ before doing more tests on gpu. Maybe motherboard can be saved too (I already wrote it off and agreed mentally to buy a new one) Maybe cpu can be saved too for a fee. Atleast I have my decent backup old am4 cpu in the meantime! I wonder if my MSI B450 A pro cannot max the ryzen 5800xt to atleast 95% of its stock settings.
