  1. Browser, version and OS: Safari 16.5.2 and Edge 115.0.1901.203 (arm64) on MacOS 13.4.1, running on Apple M2 Pro MBP. Steps to reproduce/what were you doing before it happened? Navigate to LTT Releases on the forum (https://linustechtips.com/forum/17-ltt-releases/) and then sort by either Most Viewed or Most Replies What happened? A loading message appears at the bottom of the screen (part of the forum, not the browser) for approx 1 second, and then the website crashes with an HTTP error 500 (generic error page in Edge, and a pure white screen on Safari, with only a "Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 500 ()" in the console) What did you expect to happen? To be able to view the LTT release posts sorted by most viewed or most replies. Link to a page where it happened, if applicable: https://linustechtips.com/forum/17-ltt-releases/?sortby=views&sortdirection=desc https://linustechtips.com/forum/17-ltt-releases/?sortby=posts&sortdirection=desc Screenshots of the issue, if applicable: N/A Any other relevant details: Problem appears to be isolated to 17-ltt-releases - couldn't replicate on any of the other parts of the forum (notably, General Discussion also works fine - I thought it might be to do with the number of posts, but it would appear not). Issue occurs both when logged in and logged out. If it's a cloudflare error, what was the ray ID from the bottom of the error page? N/A
  2. Apparently it's ever so slightly different...
  3. It depends whether you will be accessing files between devices (like a NAS). If you are just planning on connecting these devices to the internet, you can get a "Fast" switch (100Mb/s) rather than a Gigabit switch, although gigabit switches probably don't cost a lot more. It is also worth noting that your router probably can manage gigabit, as most routers have a gigabit switch built in to them. It is the WAN connection (internet) that is the limiting factor, not the device.
  4. Just to clarify, this is hardly a mission critical bug, but considering how much emojis (or emoticons) are used on the forum, I was wondering if I was missing something...
  5. So I was just commenting something on FPC, and decided to comment at one point in the video. Later on, I wanted to change my original post to add something. So far, so good. However, when I went to add an emoji (as you do!) when editing, there wasn't a clear way to do it. I am viewing the forum with full screen width on my MacBook Pro 13" (2560x1600 but looks like 1280x800). Am I just missing something? Actual post content removed, because spoilers...
  6. So I realise that this is pretty niche, but the (apparent) effort in implementing it appears to be very small. Basically, Apple added support for Pinned tabs in Safari back in 2015. However, instead of using the Favicon.ico standard, they require a link tag and an SVG icon. As I use the forum most days, and thus have it pinned, it would be useful to have a distinctive LTT icon there. Apple's documentation on implementing: https://developer.apple.com/library/content/documentation/AppleApplications/Reference/SafariWebContent/pinnedTabs/pinnedTabs.html Thanks!
  7. Yowch... I feel for you!
  8. Honestly, that looks pretty good to me! Also, those RAM prices!!! When the heck did that get so expensive? I remember getting 16GB for £70 (CA$120) earlier this year...
  9. I'd say that the 1070 should give more than 60fps for most titles at 1440p..., let alone a 1070ti...
  10. Loving the series thus far - good choice re: budget and the pairings Can't wait until next week...
  11. On the offchance that this is ever useful to anyone else - the problem was my router (Syno RT1900ac) acting up. The problem was solved with a firmware update.
  12. Don't think anyone else has mentioned it, but it may be worth manually setting a static IP on the desktop... just in case it is having issues with receiving data from the DHCP server.
  13. VERY good point - using MacOS Sierra on an HDD is painful!
  14. Personally, I'd say it depends on your/her situation. If it were me, and I had no need for my MacBook, I'm not sure I could be bothered on following up on charging my sister!
  15. I'm currently running a Synology RT1900ac as my router, with Unfi AP Pros as my Access Points (managed on my always-on Mac Mini). Currently, I have a standard and guest wifi network enabled and managed using the Unifi Management Software (v5.4.9). This has not caused any problems in itself. However, I would like more control over the guest network, including granting permission to a intranet website (hosted on a separate Syno NAS using WebStation). As a sidenote, I can't figure out how to set the IP subnet (?) to 192.168.11.x on the guest wifi network - it appears to connect devices to the standard subnet of 192.168.10.x, while somehow managing to isolate devices. I do realise that doing this may make the intranet thing impossible! Doing this doesn't actually have much practical purpose, before you ask - I'm merely curious, and like tinkering around with the network! TLDR: I can't figure out how any of the guest management features on a Syno Router and Unifi AP's interface together - any help? Thanks!
  16. Crikey! I can completely understand your feelings towards Synology now - if I lost even 1TB of data due to a failed RAID array I wouldn't go anywhere near the HDD/NAS manufacturer again! Again, out of interest - I don't want to end up loosing the same amount of data!, which NAS and HDDs were you using? In any instance, I'll be double checking my backups this evening! Sorry for the late reply...
  17. Would love to know what issues you had with the Synology. Just curious!
  18. Going on responses above it looks like there are! Would love to know what they are called - as this would be ideal for me!
  19. Sorry! I take it back! How?
  20. Not as far as I am aware. Apple at any rate do not provide any programming tools on the iPad. Sorry!
  21. Also, if your house is predominantly carpeted, you could try laying the CAT-5/6/7/whatever between the edge of the carpet and the floor/skirting board/wall...
  22. Personally, I've only had bad experiences with powerline - but I've only lived in older buildings. In my experience it tends to be less reliable and the speed drop is noticeable. Currently, I've run 2 long CAT-5 cables along my corridor from my router to my desk, using white tape to keep it to the walls so it isn't a tripping hazard. Not sure how feasible this will be for you though...
