LTT Video Error Handling Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
Squilliam replied to LinusTech's topic in LTT Releases
I disagree. There may be instances where a host is unavailable (vacation, etc), but the video needs to be uploaded on a specific date (sponsor requirements or NDA ending). This makes it so the host can enjoy their time off, and the business isn’t placed at a standstill. Using AI keeps the same host in a sense, so it doesn’t feel as jarring of a transition. -
LTT Video Error Handling Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)

I love the changes. As someone (with ADHD) who struggles with fine detail during repeated work, I would struggle to implement this. As a regular and long time viewer, I super appreciate it. Keep up the good work! -
Gamers Nexus alleges LMG has insufficient ethics and integrity
Squilliam replied to osgalaxy's topic in General Discussion
They used to do sentence retakes a la voice over. Linus used to show off the half shell mic for voiceovers. That can be accomplished by Linus alone. -
I love this response. I appreciate that you bought the license. I think you did the right thing, and I wholely agree with your original stance on adblockers. Alternatively: My wife who works in corporate communications and does not watch LTT said "I don't like this guy. His response is too ""but you did this...""" She states you should have a PR person, and should have simply said "you're right. We should have paid for the license. We went ahead and bought one. Our intent and understanding were not ill. We're sorry."

ASUS laptop recommended by LTT has major design flaw
Squilliam replied to Squilliam's topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
The BIOS has had the August (newest) version since before the first RMA. It's literally an AMD chip design bug. -
ROG Zephyrus G GA502 - Asus frame drops in games
Squilliam replied to NESHAY's topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
This is a common defect in the BIOS design. It impacts all Ryzen mobile chips. ASUS has not made a proper patch for it yet. I'm on RMA #2 for my GA502. -
ASUS laptop recommended by LTT has major design flaw
Squilliam replied to Squilliam's topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
It isn't just software stability... It's plain use of the laptop. 4 cores always at .39Ghz is completely unusable. How many people don't post laptop issues on the internet? How many people don't know how to identify what the issue is? I did not say "this brand of CPU all suck." I said "This laptop and all other ASUS + AMD laptops have a major a BIOS design flaw." It is a widespread issue. 2200U, 2500U, 2700U, and 3750H chips are all affected. You're still in denial that there's a major issue, and don't want to be wrong on the internet. Original. -
ASUS laptop recommended by LTT has major design flaw

Since you so quickly assumed it's only me and I'm being unreasonable: Device manufacturers so far impacted: Lenovo, Acer, ASUS, Dell, and HP. ASUS laptop recommended by LTT has major design flaw
Squilliam replied to Squilliam's topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
It has the latest BIOS. First RMA had them reinstalling BIOS, which did nothing. It's not the only model impacted by this design flaw. Not a sample size of 1. Do a Google search. It's widespread and has been occurring since the 2000 series Ryzen laptop chips released. The GA502DU isn't the only affected model. It hasn't "popped up" because you haven't looked for it. Everything you currently know or are aware of isn't all there is to know or be aware of. Best Buy doesn't accept returns, replacements, or refunds past 14 days. There are multiple ASUS laptop models impacted. All of which have AMD Ryzen chips. Not a bold statement. A fair warning. -
LTT recommended the ASUS GA502DU as the budget gaming laptop to buy. I bought it shortly after... This laptop and all other ASUS + AMD laptops have a major a BIOS design flaw. Ryzen chips permanently throttle down to 400MHz regardless of temp, OS, task, plugged in status, etc. I’m on RMA #2 for this exact issue, with no end in sight. DO NOT BUY AN ASUS DEVICE WITH AN AMD CHIP. Edit: Since there are a few who doubt my claim, here are examples of folks with the issue: https://www.reddit.com/r/AMDHelp/comments/cliicj/ryzen_7_2700u_throttled_at_400mhz/ https://www.reddit.com/r/techsupport/comments/denosy/asus_ga502du_gtx_1660ti_max_q_installed_new_ssd/ https://community.amd.com/thread/232252 https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/961531-ryzen-7-2700u-stuck-at-04-ghz/ https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/Lenovo-Yoga-530-ryzen-7-2700-capped-at-400Mhz/td-p/4492957 https://www.cadalyst.com/%5Blevel-1-with-primary-path%5D/amd-ryzen-5-2500u-locked-400mhz-battery-43742 https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Ryzen-5-2500u-Vega-8-GPU-Clock-speeds-dropping/td-p/6962715 https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-IdeaPad-1xx-3xx-5xx-7xx/Ideapad-330s-Ryzen-2500u-MAJOR-performance-problems-CPU-and-GPU/td-p/4281967 https://www.dell.com/community/Inspiron/Laptop-Throttling/td-p/6133484 https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/ryzen-5-2500u-clock-speed-locked.3411502/ https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/552094/hi-i-recently-bought-acer-nitro-5-ryzen-5-2500u-i-noticed-that-it-is-stuck-in-0-38-ghz https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1095205-ryzen-3750h-stuck-at-400mhz/ (Hey, look at that! I received it back from the RMA with it still throttling. They're having me mail it back to them. -
Ryzen 3750H Stuck at 400MHz
Squilliam replied to Squilliam's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
ASUS had me send the laptop in for RMA. They guarantee me it will be fixed. It better damn be for the $30 in shipping I had to pay... -
I have a new Asus Zephyrus laptop with the Ryzen 3750H. It keeps setting itself to 400MHz or .39 GHz to be exact. It doesn't matter if the laptop is on battery or plugged in. It doesn't matter what power plan it is on. The only thing that resets the frequency is to reboot the machine. Within a few minutes, it ends up permanently downclocking itself again. I installed the new BIOS that was released 2 days ago. It's still not fixed. The laptop is not overheating. It doesn't have to even be doing a difficult task.

Thank you!!

I’m aware the video was not listed, but the live stream mentioned linking in the video description, and I can’t find it anywhere. I know they’ll be cutting it for an official video, but I still want to watch the live stream. Can someone share a link please?

I love Veritasium and the work this gent does. I feel having Linus and them watch this would be beneficial, although I'm sure they know most of this info.

This thread is the only reason I'm able to be listening to it right now. Your negativity is tiring. I appreciate the OP for helping me find it. If you have a problem with this thread, shut up, and scroll on.

I'd like to know what chat app will LTT be switching to once Hangouts is gone? My friends and I exclusively use Hangouts. We are at odds with what we'll switch to.

[HOWTO] Get NVMe support on older motherboards!
Squilliam replied to ValkyrieStar's topic in Guides and Tutorials
I just got a Samsung 970 EVO 500GB for my Razer Blade (2015) laptop. 9 times out of 10, the laptop doesn't detect the drive, but that 1 time it does, it boots straight to Windows, and works flawlessly... could this be related to what you're talking about? It uses a Haswell HM87 chipset. -

Not at all. Even the LTT crew are against it now. Support for it has dried up.
