I upgraded my ultrabook from 4gb to 8gb a few years back. The original stick was samsung and the replacement was kingston. The speeds were both 2133mhz ddr3 and i've never had issues since.

That's good, you can just buy a sodimm stick of the same speed and capacity and stick it in.

It can't "compete" against the U series because the U series has lower TDP than the T series. However the only thing stopping the T series from going in laptops is the simple fact they're built for desktops. There's different circuitry requirements for building a desktop package vs. a laptop package.

Use manual (I believe that would be override on yours). When testing, then swap to adaptive mode which will allow the voltage to go down when not at high load.

Ahh. Yeh, so unless the air is super super hot, it will probably not be a problem. Although it may bring HDD temps to higher but safe numbers.

    Get i7 4790k or i7 6700k.
I will always recommend going for K version.
I did mistake 6 months ago when I bought i7 4790 non K version ... had to pay almost extra 100€ now, to swap it for i7 4790k. So don't make same mistake as me, and go get K version.
6 months ago I was like: nah, I won't be overclocking. Just few months later I went for water cooling and was mad that I didn't spend extra 30$ back then to get K version.
Even if you don't want to OC now, you might want in the future.

Keep in mind that i7 4790 will work on 3,8GHz when all cores are active.
Meanwhile you can set multiplier for i7 4790k to work all cores on 4,7GHz without any problem. So you are looking at almost 1GHz increase per core.

I hope, I will be able to give you some results after few days ... right now I'm having hard time with water cooling set up, but once it's done, I will do some benchmarking so you can see how much better K version actually is.

For the sake of PC master race, get K version
Don't be like other guys with non K version .... like @done12many2 for example. I kinda feel bad for him not having K version CPU
