I've had cheap office mice that I threw into walls that would still work perfectly fine, and then gaming mice that had the scroll wheel fail after 6 months of use and double click after a year.

Spoiler
To be entirely fair, double clicking is more common on gaming mice, because they usually have more aggressive debounce delays to reduce latency. Office mice can have very high debounce delays since most non-gamers don't care if their mouse takes a few ms extra to click.

Razer seems to have gotten rid of the double clicking issue on their new mice which use optical switches though, right?
As much as I hate Razer Bloatnapse, I might actually consider them whenever I decide to upgrade my mouse, though I'd have to look into them first. Pretty much the only mouse that I know of and tried in recent memory of theirs is the Deathadder Elite, and the switches on that are waay too light for my liking.

iirc the deathadder elite still uses omrons, not all of their mice are equipped with the optical switches

Yep, Synapse is actually pretty OK now, better than G-Hub for sure. I have a Viper mini and ultimate and I don't have a lot of complaints. The optical switches feel a bit mushy on the ultimate, but they are quite heavy if that's what you like. Definitely heavier than my G Pro, maybe not as heavy as Zowie though.
