The fix to this is usually to unplug the monitor's power cable for around 5 minutes and reconnect again to unload a capacitor or something.

I've had Ikea's Markus for like the better part of a decade. If you want comfort you want an ergonomic office chair, that usually will cost $1000+, not any kind of gaming chair

The panel is 3840x1600. The first post must have been a typo.
As for the resolution, it's pretty much perfect for browsing, coding and the like, 1600 is such a huge step up from 1440 even if it's "just" 160px.
Will be nice to view 4K content as well, if it's cinema stuff with blackbars.

i believe LG is releasing an ultrawide HDR monitor sometime this year.

there is also a non-ultrawide HDR monitor called the Asus PG27UQ. uses QLED, or Quantum Dots technology

yes, the monitor/GPU will have to upscale the content to native. may look okay or look pretty bad.
you'll probably need to buy remastered 4K blu-rays. and a Kaby Lake CPU
sort of. i expect you'll have to reduce a lot of settings to meet 60fps.
depends on whether you'll use all that real estate. or planning on playing triple monitor-compatible games.

    Hi,

as far as I know there are no HDR ultrawides on the way just yet. Samsung apparently released a 100Hz 34" ultrawide at the end of last year, and LG is allegedly going to bring a 144Hz 34" ultrawide (no mention of HDR) to the market in the summer (both have Freesync).

    G-Sync monitors are ridiculously expensive.

Also, have you considered getting another 29" ultrawide, instead of getting a new bigger one? If the same model you already have is still available, that may be the most reasonable (and possibly most cost-effective) way to go, with an upgrade to a better 34" ultrawide somewhere down the line when they get better specs and lower prices.

Give it time. HDR displays is new technology and ultrawides are still a niche market. As for your concerns:

No. I have an HDR TV and it plays non-HDR videos just fine.

For gaming, you won't be reaching 60FPS for the most recent games on maximum detail. For everything else, even a 10 year old card can handle that resolution.

It depends on how you like to do window management. I like the Windows Snap feature with four sections (each being one half of a monitor) on two screens. If you want the same thing on an ultrawide, you need special software to divvy up your screen.

That's up in the air. HDR monitors were just recently announced so don't hold your breath very long if you're dying for a monitor.

It's not that it hasn't been changed in a while but in my opinion you're not 'worthy' of associating with an iconic entrepreneur when all you're doing is making youtube videos.

I get that it's cute, like it's supposed to be a parody? From my perspective Linus has a huge ego to use a a pic of someone so iconic. As if to assert that the two are somehow comparable (they're not). Self-indulgence at its finest?

Hopefully the subscribers and the dirty sponsorship money hasn't changed him, but this pic of him makes me want to question that.

Demands on the atmosphere of your company. Linus and co. are not known to be very "professional" in the traditional sense. They have fun at work and I don't see anything wrong with that being represented in Linus's picture.
