  1. I think everything I get out of a games console I get from having last gen (Xbox One) and my gaming PC. I do very little gaming on my xbox anymore because I've made a conscious effort to make use of the hundreds/thousands of pounds I've spent on my PC and not buy Xbox games for probably about a year.
  2. It's one of them things, I usually just build next to my radiator and touch the pipe that goes into the ground. I have used straps before but I find them so irritating and as someone has pointed out, unless you're being silly, you shouldn't need to be grounded at all times.
  3. The most worrying part is not that people submitted their ID for verification purposes, but the fact that that's legal without any sort of guarantee of safety. Surely to be able to store someone's ID you must have to have strict measures in place to make sure that doesn't get in the wrong hands?
  4. I wouldn't worry about them breaking, as someone has already pointed out, the fans will be the last thing to die! Only reason I'd suggest to have fans running all the time is to prevent that jarring increase in noise when you get in to a game or possibly just to increase airflow generally in the case.
  5. A password manager is probably a safer bet than storing passwords as plain text or just encrypting the whole drive if you really need to have them written down.
  6. I had that same problem with my new cable, at least it didn't break!
  7. 5 years into PC building and I made the stupidest mistake I've ever made. Changing my case on Christmas Day, went to turn it on and there was nothing... so I thought it was my PSU cable because it had come loose, so I changed and still nothing... so I concluded it was the motherboard but then when I got the new motherboard it still wasn't working. I was so confused, it wasn't even turning on when I was shorting the pins on the mobo. It turns out I'd got the serial port and front panel port mixed up - both motherboards are fine, both cables are fine... Time to flip that old motherboard on eBay (my new one has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth built in and is a better motherboard)... So, what's the dumbest PC mistake you've made?
  8. Hi guys, I've managed to break my 24-pin mobo cabe for my PSU when transferring to a new case but I'm finding it near impossible to get a replacement cable (or even set of cables) in the UK. EU store for EVGA says I can't get them, US store says I can't ship to UK. I'd be forever grateful if someone had a reliable source for these cables! NOTE: I've already emailed EVGA support, but if I'm honest, I'm not hopeful for a response.
  9. Not hugely active on MC anymore, but am happy to join and make a lil home for myself Drop me a message on here
  10. I chose AMD for both CPU and GPU and it's mainly because I want to encourage competition in the market. Price to performance is way better in the UK with AMD CPUs particularly, GPUs is marginal difference in price to performance but I just want to do my part for making sure NVidia don't just dominate the market the way they did for years.
  11. AKG make a few nice pairs of bluetooth headphones. I got my brother a pair a few years ago, I believe they were Y50BTs but I think they may have a newer model now.
  12. With a PSU, if you're not sure, put in your entire build into PCPartPicker and use that as a guide. I have an 800W PSU which is overkill but I'm glad I put money into a good, high wattage PSU that will last me years, even through multiple system upgrades.
  13. Honestly, well worth it. 4TB HDD for mass storage and 1TB SSD for things I use every day works very, very nicely. I honestly didn't realise how slow HDDs are until I had to use one every day in a work PC and I miss being able to get my programs up and running in under a minute.
  14. Yeah, as Mick pointed out, it's probably because there's no frame limit and so in menus, it's pushing 3 billion FPS. At least you know it's working. It's possible that an OC has been put on your GPU if you're noticing significant temp jumps under load, but AC Valhalla will push your GPU to its limit.
  15. Some mods can just make games a bit unstable, it's adding another variable to a platform that isn't unified anyway. I'd check your usage stats to see how your components are being utilised, also have a quick google of common causes of crashes of GTA V or of specific mods you're using. I always remember once Civilization V just wouldn't load and it was being blocked by my antivirus or another time a game really didn't like NZXT CAM running the background.
