JJJaaammmeeesss got a reaction from Riksland in BenQ RL2455HM screen pixel lag
Its ghosting, you just need to change some settings on the monitor. It happens because the monitor has settings to get a 1ms response rate which in turn causes ghosting

Depends on the quality of his networking devices. -

JJJaaammmeeesss got a reaction from pcman365 in I think she's stable.
Not currently set at it sorry. Would be too hot in the Australian summer. At stock speeds in the heat it sits at 30-35C with an AIO cooler.

JJJaaammmeeesss reacted to MeshFile in TP-Link Archer C2 Router Subnet Issues
What port on the TP-Link router you've connected the 8 port switch to? You should just use its LAN port to avoid double NATting.
To configure it as an AP/switch only, set its LAN IP to 192.168.0.50(or other number), subnet mask to 255.255.255.0 (assuming it's the same as your modem/router). set its WAN IP to a different IP as 192.168.0.0/24, and disable its DHCP service. You can then just use its LAN ports for other wired devices and don't connect anything on its WAN port.
Those settings assume you don't require the TP-Link to use a different network.

JJJaaammmeeesss reacted to Miklos in Building a NAS at home? Don't use unRaid or hardware RAID
I love watching LTT videos but with the recent influx of NAS/Storage videos I often have to behave like an old man yelling at the TV because I see silly mistakes.
Building your own NAS? Here are some basic rules of thumb:
1) Filesystem has to be ZFS
2) No hardware RAID cards
3) You can never have too much RAM (aim for 1GB RAM per TB of usable storage)
4) FILESYSTEM HAS TO BE ZFS
If you stick to those few rules, you will have a great time, but this excludes unRaid which LTT likes to use for dedicated NAS builds. unRaid uses an inferior filesystem and has strange limitations while costing money in some situations. This is nuts, as there is a superior free alternative that is just as easy to use, FreeNAS. Personally I have a FreeNAS at home but I use FreeBSD professionally to run all our NAS solutions both in Europe and in Asia.
New to FreeNAS? There are many blog posts, guides and videos on the subject but I always recommend checking out the excellent official documentation: http://doc.freenas.org/9.3/freenas.html (current version)
And I'm sure there are a lot of people here that are more than willing to aid you in case you need help finding hardware.

JJJaaammmeeesss reacted to Jumper118 in Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut. The Ultimate thermal paste? You can actually buy it now :D
We will start off with this video which i saw (i was actually watching it live on twitch). They made some pretty big claims in this. 6c better temps than your average thermal paste.
I managed to win a pack of this stuff on the live stream and so i thought i would put it to the test on something with a big heat output.
The test Rig
AMD Phenom II X4 965 with a nice and warm 125TDP@ 4.126ghz on 1.5v for a bit of extra warmth
Asus Crosshair V Formula Z
Alphenfohn Matterhorn REV B CPU cooler doing a surprisingly good job for a single tower cooler
G.Skill Ripjaws Z
EVGA Geforce GT610 2GB in the 3rd slot to minimise heat interference from the gpu
Samsung Spinpoint F1 250GB HDD
Corsair CX500M PSU
I dont have a case so this test was done open air on a box.
The ambient temps during these tests was 22-23c which is pretty warm.
As a bonus i tested a few different fans with the rubbish paste as well.
First of all i tested some no brand white ceramic thermal paste. with a couple of different fan configs
1st up was the stock Alphenfohn fan that came with the cooler. This fan was spinning at its maximum speed which is 1500RPM, as this fan comes with the cooler, this is the cheapest option to use with this cooler.
as you can see with the stock fan the temperature hit a maximum of 56c, this is a perfectly safe temp for an AMD cpu, but i wan to run a bit more voltage than this and as i am getting upto the 62c max temp of this chip.
The next thing i tried was just adding a 'better' fan, this is a ocuk special. this is a 1850RPM fan, so even though it moves more air it is louder.
this brings a 2c decrease which isn't bad for a £3 fan
next up i have tested the best possible case for this heatsink. two delta 3900RPM fans in push pull, this will make sure the cooler is dissipating as much heat as it can possibly transfer with the standard paste.
That is a 5c drop on the better single fan setup which is very good.
So now that the extreme fans are on, i will change the thermal paste.
that is a 6c difference, giving me an overall decease of 13c in total. this may not seem much, but when you consider that this is a 23% drop i temperature that will give a lot more overclocking headroom. it also means that a single tower cooler like this can match or exceed the performance of a dual tower cooler or aio that could be using the stock fans and paste. i was quite shocked by this as i expected to see maybe 1-2c difference.
you can now buy it: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/search_results.php?keywords=thermal+grizzly&_=1434098276582
