So, its happened about 3 times in the past couple of months, ill wake up or come home and my pc is on. ive read around and people say WOL 'wake on lan' is the problem and turn it off, but i want to use the WOL, so i cant turn it off, or is it something completely different? and how is it turning on if WOL is enabled, shouldnt it only turn on when you tell it too?

motherboard is a z97 Asus pro wifi

if you need anymore info just ask

check the bios for the dehumidifier settings, they turn the pc on too, this is a "common" problem with some z97 boards from asrock maybe it works there too

or buy a socket with a on / off button ;)

Do you have any animales? Maybe its because you got wake on keyboard input(cant remember the exactly name) and your cat or dog walks on youre keyboard some times? I had a friend this happened to in the past and he keept telling me that hes dog would never do that, funny enough i convinced him to set up a cam and it turns out the dog had foundt out that if it hits the keyboard then those fans on the pc would start to run(aka it turns on)

And apperently it sat infront of the fans because of the air comming from it(was my guess, but we will never know for sure xD)

The dehumidifier basically means the computer turns on so it heats up and evaporates the moisture.

^ thats what i meant

why should i be joking @perplex ... the pc of a mate (asrock h97 board )just turned on exactly the same time every 24h without him pushing any button... and with deactivated Wake on lan etc....  because the dehumidifier activated the pc, after deactivating it in the bios to wake the pc nothing happens without pushing a button

google it if you dont believe me.. thats a known problem with asrock and others

forse shut down, close the psu by the time it shuts down, remove all cables, remove cmos battery for 15 secs, replug and voila

My mobo tends to do that from time to time, and that it is the easiest-fastest solution for me

The site has changed....

Why not turn off wake-on-LAN just for troubleshooting?

If you disable it, and it doesn't wake up on its own, then you've made a great stride in your isolation.

At that point, you'd just need to examine your network and networked devices to figure out which one is talking to your computer.

If you don't even try disabling wake-on-LAN, you've got more possibilities and things to isolate.
