  1. using styles blocks is only justified on 'proof of concept' pages (such as making an anchor tag look like a button). it's easier to pass the test file (notice singular) to another person. obviously you would have CDNs for major libraries and script blocks for js. using it on a production site is NEVER a good idea unless you have a SMALL single page.* the productivity loss from constantly scrolling back and forth from your html to css to find a class is gargantuan and just frankly very annoying. * there is one caveat where you inline the css needed for above the fold content to help the 1000ms to glass guideline....but inlining the CSS should be part of your build system, not something a dev would actually do during coding time.
  2. no. do NOT use w3school. use MDN (mozilla developer network).
  3. when people talk about MX longevity, they are talking about the SWITCH itself. pcb, led, case shattering failures aren't different than regular boards. Where rubber boards are better in terms of longevity is when drinks get spilled into the switch itself. MX switches are mechanical and therefore relatively fragile. also, you picked almost the worst 3 boards out there. that explains why your experience was crap. logitech g710+ has the worst switches (browns) with o-rings. that board is meant to IMITATE a rubberdome board. the difference between a rubberdome can be a 'shocking' experience for some people; using browns with orings makes everything more mushy like a rubberdome. the leds failed on you k70. refer to the longevity breakdown above. i'm not sure what you mean by 'stuck'. as in, your key was stuck depressed halfway down? roccat is a horrible piece of hardware. that's why it is bad. no, more detail is NOT needed. EDIT: there are reasons why duckys and filcos are recommended.

    Why PHP?

let me start things off....trying to replace JS is an unbelievably wasteful endeavor. JS is ALREADY a compile target for c++ (emscripten), dart, go(not entirely sure bit pretty sure go is what i think it is), typescript and probably a whole bunch I don't know about. this is aside from the fact that es6 and es7 are making some pretty big differences. language replacement in a browser setting is absurd. language evolution is the only way to go. that said, PHP is used by startup companies because it is cheap compared to asp.net/IIS and the required licenses. As well, it's easy to teach and errors in the language can be overcome by the million monkeys + million typewriters strategy. larger companies use PHP because they want to hire experienced devs (and a large portion of those devs will come from startups using PHP). make sense? it's the exact same thing microsoft does with windows. if people use windows at home, they will demand their employers/employees use windows at work. this is why there is 'bizspark' by microsoft; it's the counter to PHP's cost advantage
  6. if i remember correctly, kbtalking is just a vendor. i think kbt is a forum or the name of a group of community keyboard designers. they DESIGNED some boards, but vortex is still the actual manufacturer. i might actually be thinking about kbtrace rather than kbtalking.
  7. it's most likely down because they've been getting hammered with linkbacks. i doubt they use top end servers for a homepage that is almost never visited.

    Noctua sell out

the function of all companies is literally selling out....
  9. yep, i mentioned the g700s because it's the same shape as the mx rev.
  10. not even close. the g700s blows it out of the water. also, I think the mx rev has the software that makes it not work in games (so you'll need the right version of software)
  11. that's cause your college's tech support has bad images for one reason or another. it's been used at my works for months and months now with no issue.
  12. it looks too much like chrome. it's really annoying when you have to do crossbrowser testing. the new look is EXTREMELY much better for touchscreens.
  13. chrome is well known for being the worst text renderer on windows. it makes sense that it's even worse on high res screens.
  14. it's always funny when you compare the number of contributers to the number of open source 'advocates'. i honestly don't see why nonprogrammers care about open source. complaining about something has literally exactly the same effect as if the software was private. chrome is a performance joke. same performance as everybody else but hugely more memory and bandwidth required.
  15. i dunno, it was really easy regardless. not to mention the ENORMOUS security benefit. no storage servers means that your password can't be stolen without losing your actual device. i REALLY wished they kept sync and allowed it as an option to accounts. local syncing vs centralized syncing. choice is always king. i say firefox's strengh was its customizable UI. chrome has basically ruined everything about browsers except for js speed...which makes it so ironic when you think about it's performance nowadays
  16. firefox tab groups. if you are serious about work, that is the ONLY reason you need to switch to firefox. no more of that lameass 'chrome tab teeth' effect.
  17. why do people think firefox doesn't have syncing? it's been there for like 3-4 years. i mean...it was literally called firefox sync
  18. haven't seen free office since the xp era personally. besides win8 tablets like profosist said.
  19. ....how are they not benchmarks if they're measuring speed using a standardized test?
  20. all mx boards will be loud unless you're willing to put on orings/learn to not bottom out. if you want mx and don't want to put the orings on yourself, get the logitech g710+ or the WASD v2 (i THINK they still install the orings for you). be warned they are firmly in the middle range of mech kb costs. also, the g710+ is widely regarded as the worst popular keyboard by people who have had 2 or more keyboards. if you want mx and don't want to use orings, get any board with mx clears and learn to feel the bump and then lift immediately so you don't hit the bottom. if you're okay with installing orings, then you can get literally any mx board that is not blue, green, or white. just stay away from gamer brands like poseidon, logitech, razer, steelseries, etc. corsair is okay though. all 'keyboard enthusiast' brand boards have similar quality besides some DAS boards. the quiet and easiest option is to get a topre board. i recommend the type heaven for cost reasons. if you're willing to spend 200+, then go for the better made realforce series. not sure why you're concerned about backlights. if you don't want them, just turn them off.

    .

the d14 actually fits on some mitx boards...kinda funny. i got it on my asus board. the first one with the daughterboard power supply.
  22. you're screwed. i've never seen a metal spacebar that wasn't 6.25x or 7x. tis is the resson why you don't go for gaming mx boards. changing the keycaps is very expensive or outright impossible.
  23. ssd longevity is NEVER a factor anymore. i'm going to bet that you're not building a server rack, nor are you making a double digit cpu count rendering farm. never spend more money for 'longer lasting NAND'. it'a a marketing gimmick such as 'gaming grade'
  24. because not needing a cable makes your battery pack even MORE portable. cable + battery pack < battery pack with qi
