  1. Try removing the programs you don't need and disable the services you don't need. Best case scenario is to buy an SSD since the rest of your specs are fine, but worst case scenario you can do some of the things in this guide:
  2. My best guess is that something happened to your motherboard. If you can, test each part individually in a friend's computer or something until you find the problem. If not, probably just try buying a new motherboard, but be ready to return it if that isn't the problem.
  3. Go with a i5 6400, the cheapest 1151 motherboard you can find, and 8 GB of DDR4. Stock cooler should work just fine for your purposes. Should cost somewhere in the mid-high 200's. If you wanted to step up a little bit, get a 6600k, they might be discounted because of the 7600k and a Z170 board (also might be discounted), maybe 8-16 GB of RAM, and a 212 EVO (or whatever the new version is called)
  4. Hard drives are usually pretty easy to access on laptops, just pop the back off and it should be right there.
  5. I'm too lazy to do a pcpartpicker but grab a couple 4 GB RX 480's and a 6600k and you'll have a great gaming PC.
  6. I wouldn't say I'm heavily disappointed nor overly impressed. The performance is somewhat lackluster but I do think it looks quite a bit better than GTA. Haven't really gotten into the storyline because I've only played a couple hours doing some free roam. Driving is certainly mediocre. I enjoy it though because I have been to San Francisco a couple times and its pretty cool to compare it to real life.
  7. Depends, for CS:GO and COD than yeah 144 hz, most other games I'd rather have 4k.
  8. What is your budget then? And does 4K relevant mean CS:GO and League of Legends, or AAA games like The Witcher 3 and GTA V?
  9. 4K relevant while keeping the price down is going to be hard, if you're on a budget I would go with 1080p, it still looks fine, even a few years down the line it will still be a viable budget option.
  10. I bought a 24" 1080p TN panel for $79 on Black Friday, I still think it was a good deal but I still sometimes prefer my 19" 900p IPS.
  11. Ok, then any i5 that you can find for cheap would be a good deal, 4430-4690k. Definitely upgrade the CPU first, the 1050 is a pretty good card and I see no reason to upgrade it, at least for a couple more years.
  12. Both cases I have owned have done the exact same thing, despite double checking the audio connector. Seems like case manufacturers just don't do a good job manufacturing the headphone jack I guess? I just use a headphone cable extender plugged into the back of my PC.
  13. Have you already built the PC or is this a parts list for now? Haswell is 3 generations old now and I can't really recommend the G3258 for much besides CS:GO or Minecraft. Most games simply require 4 threads now, and you would see massive performance gains going from just that to a i3 6100. If you already built the PC, upgrading to something like an i5 4460 for $150 or less would be a great deal.
  14. That was just an issue with the 7970. That thing would hit 83 degrees and you could hear the fan noise from the other side of the house. After the 7970 none of their cards were quite as bad, even the reference ones.
  15. Hopefully; if it doesn't happen this year it had better happen next, they are running out of time with their market share dwindling so much. Just check out the Steam Hardware Survey. I love that they've been making such a great effort with their drivers (and hardware) recently however.
  16. All valid points. I have a bit of buyer's remorse for buying a 1050 Ti for some of these reasons. Bought it to replace a reference 7970 because it sounded like an airplane was taking off from my house. Would have gotten an RX 470 but there weren't the rebate deals that brought the price down to $149 at the time. If I had known that it would've gotten discounted so heavily I would've chosen the 470 in a second.
  17. I see what you mean, by saying that they shouldn't have the success that they do I meant AMD shouldn't have allowed Nvidea to get so far ahead. It definitely is their right to do whatever they want with their tech, and if I was in their position I would probably do the same thing.
  18. I agree, Intel isn't necessarily a bad company by any means, just needs some friendly competition. Shouldn't have taken AMD this long to get on top of their game again.
  19. Actually, idk if I can edit the poll now that people have voted. Thanks for the correction though. I see how it is unclear.
  20. A little too biased towards AMD, but still a good video.
  21. Yeah, I see what you mean. Really hoping Vega turns out great and AMD can get some market share back. Nvidea shouldn't have the success they do with some of their bad consumer practices.
  22. Yeah, just a day I think until Vega is unveiled and 10 days until Ryzen if I'm correct.
