Fair enough, I'd like to believe it was condensation as that would give me something to go with but I'm in the UK, it ain't a humid environment here, and I'm in a well ventilated house with zero internal condensation issues... there's never any on the internal windows and I've got multiple panels in here and around 8 PCs in this room which have shown no signs of damp ever.  I'll try the hair dyer though just in case, you never know.

Excellent, good luck getting started on it! The irony with that is Autodesk had planned to hack up the rendering engine in Inventor for the next release, but the guys who develop Inventor watch my vids and after seeing the ray tracing for the car and seeing what it can do they decided to change course and leave it as it is! Which was awesome to hear.
Max is definitely a much better rendering package, you've got iray and third party stuff like Vray which blows Inventor out the water, but Inventor is a dedicated engineering package so it's the best choice for anyone in product design.

Thanks and yes m8, Self taught whilst I worked for an Autodesk reseller for a long time as well as Autodesk briefly, been an Autodesk instructor and now do a CAD tips channel too.

Just want to say a massive thanks to Linus for tweeting out a share to my video showing the Fallout 4 bomb PC case being modelled in 3D and rendered.  Also, well done to Luke for actually making the real thing, you could tell he grafted hard on that for a long time, my attempt was a tribute to his hard work.

If anyone is interested in seeing it, below is a thumbnail for the video with a clickable link.  If you're interested in 3D modelling and want to see more stuff like this, by all means subscribe, it'll spur me on to do more content like this if there's an audience for it.

Ouch, Microsoft love to make life difficult at times.
It's a full screen clip so it can be verified using the Windows clock at the bottom right of my screen, but in total the Inventor modelling took an hour and a half.  With about half an hour of that being spent correcting some glitches and having to redo a few features, so if I had it scripted and practiced it beforehand I reckon it would be about an hours worth.
The rendering side of things took a while as I had to fiddle with decals and textures, and wait for ray tracing to pass.  So in total a couple of hours.

that sucks man. I don't really see how LTT can even use these prints to pick a winner..... would've gone so much smoother if they just had people submit renderings and images for people to vote on, then have MMF print maybe like the top 20 or so that LTT and the community picked. I think in hindsight they are probably thinking the same thing, the whole thing kinda just blew up in their faces.

I didn't get that from the question, but fair enough.  I heard someone saying I'm getting a new monitor what kind of frame rates will I then get on this PC I already have.  I have nothing constructive to add to this so I'll bow out and let you lot help!

The issue with this one is that it's mounted to the wall the complete wrong way around, look at the user submitted photos which have the silver background, then look at how MMF mounted it.  They've even got it wrong on the photo with the headphone hanging on it.  That's properly unfair on the guy who submitted this, he sent in a picture of how it should look so what more could he have done!

This one has to be up there with the most stupid of all the mistakes they've made! Not only is it upside down in some of the pictures, it's also attached to the wall at the wrong end, even though clearly the submitter provided pictures showing what it should look like, how is it possible to get this so wrong?!

    Truly disgusted by this.
I and everyone else has to pay ofd their loans/mortgages.
Just because Greece is an endless pit of money sucking corruption, they get excused? Where is the word fair in that?
The greek government refuses to make their people pay the taxes that are being upheld by every other EU country, but somehow they find it normal that the EU pays for their debts and now other people start raising money for Greece's debts.... ugh.

My first post on the LTT forums!
This is now submitted, however I don't know how well that Mini Factory website works as there was no obvious way to ensure your entry goes direct to that particular contest.
The design from start to finish was done on Autodesk Inventor and rendered in Autodesk Showcase, I've read a few people expressing an interest in learning 3D modelling so here's a shameless plug to my tutorial YouTube channel which has 50+ tutorials for Inventor.

Is anyone else not seeing the pictures of their submission when they go to 'my 3D objects' on the My Mini Factory website?
That site has a lot of growing pains to get past, currently it's looking extremely amateur.  I also wrote to them 3 days ago asking to clarify that my pictures made it to the contest but no reply, I suspect there might not be a 'them', possibly just a single person running a website from their home office and with dollar signs flashing before their eyes have maybe taken on more than they can chew here.

Ahhh I see, if you want to get into the Autodesk stuff, you might have been told already but as a student you get free Autodesk licenses direct from Autodesk.  They'll give you a license of any Autodesk software, fully enabled no restrictions.

Thanks man.  I'm not sure it will suit them due to the multiple textured finish, it looks a bit naff as a plain coloured STL model.
Once I realised their was a 18^3 restriction, I thought about modding the design so the arrows could detach and clip in, but this was last minute and I didn't have time to work on blending the fillets after splitting the solids.  So I just had to scale the entire thing down by 0.75.  If I had more time I would have probably worked on changing the holder to be inverted so that it follows the contour of the headphone band, but when you think you're not really going to win you have to wonder if it's worth ploughing even more time into it! I'm quite excited to see all the various entries though.

Wow thanks! I honestly have no idea how it'll be viewed in general, I also finished it then found out about the 18cm x 18cm x 18cm size restriction which kinda screwed it up a bit! So I scaled it down, I've now got no idea if it'll even physically hold a headset but I imagine whoever's design gets picked as the winner will have the chance to mod it for production suitability.
