So, if my thousand dollar graphics card breaks, I should buy a several thousand dollar piece of equipment to fix it? I think I'll just buy another GPU

I'm looking for a new case for my computer. I want something that's around the size of the Fractal Node 202, but has a window on the top/side (depending on orientation). I need to fit a standard ATX motherboard, an SSD, HDD and 120mm radiator in the case. Ideally I'd like to case to be white as I'm going to spraypaint it. What reccomendations do you guys have?

First time I've ever heard "excellent" and "WikiHow" in the same sentence. Was Linus being sarcastic?

High Wattage PSUs - Do they consume more power?
dom1310df replied to nicklmg's topic in LTT Releases
@nicklmg The links in the description of the video on YouTube are broken; I just get a forum error page -
What's up with the text formatting? Looks like a zebra crossing

Finally I can actually click the reputation buttons!

I've been using the site for 10 minutes, and twice I've had a white page when I click a link, rather than the page I expect. Happened first when I replied to a topic, and the post didn't go through after navigating to linustechtips.com. Second time happened when changing theme, although the theme did change. Any idea what could be causing this? EDIT: Happened again after creating this topic. Going to the homepage gave an Error 500.

Everything looks huge, except the reputation buttons, which are really tiny (although they've vanished now O_o)

Not much of a saving, though

Electricity cost of folding?
dom1310df replied to suchamoneypit's topic in Folding@home, Boinc, and Coin Mining
Buy a power meter for $15 and you can see exactly how much power your computer uses when folding. -
I still disagree. I'm not going to spend £100+ for a graphics card that only goes into a headless server at most once a year, I'll just spend £20. I don't have £80+ to leave gathering dust on a shelf.

Worst part of being a techie when you are on school/home etc
dom1310df replied to Doublei7's topic in General Discussion
At my school no one ever turned up to fix it. There are still some things that were broken in 2008- 20 replies

Where no bear has gone before...or...
dom1310df replied to gord0's topic in Programs, Apps and Websites
It's not possible to accomplish what you want, I'm afraid. From their own FAQ (https://help.tunnelbear.com/customer/portal/articles/1471161): Later thoughts: You could set up a Linux box that takes the internet connection from your console and passes it to the VPN. This is only available for Giant and Grizzly TunnelBears, though. -
Worst part of being a techie when you are on school/home etc
dom1310df replied to Doublei7's topic in General Discussion
Whenever teachers had trouble with their computers, my classmates would ask me to help. I'd just sit there laughing away to myself. Much more fun watching them struggle.- 20 replies

I hate those ads. I had one while browsing the Assassins Creed wiki that opened a new tab. Wasn't impressed- 20 replies

Buy 10Gb ethernet card on ebay for cheap? is it legit?

Your English is good. I've seen native English speakers with worse English. (No, really!) -
Interesting... I've always wanted a mechanical keyboard, but struggle to find ones without the numberpad sold in the UK for a reasonable price. The one I can find on Amazon 'claims' to have Cherry MX blues. The outemu switches seem to be a clone, but are theoretically compatible with Cherry keycaps.

Sony to "Spin-off" PlayStation as its own company
dom1310df replied to WelshDdraig's topic in Tech News
Aren't they already a "separate" company? Sony Computer Entertainment, Inc. was a wholly owned subsidiary, and so will Sony Interactive Entertainment, LLC. I don't expect anything to change. -
I've had pretty good experiences with getting refunds using the A to Z guarantee (so if it doesn't work and the seller won't give you a refund, Amazon will).

Windows tried to update while I was away; killed itself. Need help
dom1310df replied to CB001's topic in Troubleshooting
I had the similar winload.efi error after installing a (supposedly) benign driver. Windows' built-in recovery tools didn't work, so I ended up using HP's built in reinstall feature. If you google rebuild BCD or similar you will get some guides that may fix your problem (they can't make it worse )- 6 replies
