  1. I think some of the testing methodology for Blender may have been incorrect. I believe they may have inadvertently run the Classroom render using the CPU on the Mac Pro. Here are the (admittedly blurry) render options from LTT's Mac Pro: (in spoiler since its a large picture) Comparing that to Blender on my Mac, that is most likely the following: For Blender to use the GPU, the Device setting needs to be set to "GPU Compute". In addition to take full advantage of Apple's Metal GPU framework, you need to enable Metal under "Cycles Render Devices" in Blender's Preferences. With these settings, I was able to render classroom in 2:44.47 on my MacBook Pro (14 inch - 2021 - M1 Pro 10 core CPU 16 core GPU) while multitasking. CPU based took much longer. Based on my results I would think that the M2 Ultra's 60 GPU cores would finish much faster than my M1 Pro's 16. My guess is that the M2 Ultra's 24 CPU cores would make up the difference.
  2. UPDATE: 23andMe confirmed that health reports and raw genotype data were stolen Via BleepingComputer.com In addition to the health and genotype data, if users used the DNA Relatives feature then attackers may have scraped ancestry reports and profile data of other 23andMe users that matched. My thoughts: No matter how you feel about platforms like 23andMe, I think all platforms that handle health data need to require users to use secure MFA.
  3. LMG has done external media production in the past, from ads, to internal trainings (Intel Retail IIRC), and other white label content. Latest I remember seeing was some unboxing videos for Cisco:
  4. This is why I like the “Option B” from the survey for single product links. I think the Floatplane crew could put together something amazing for this.
  5. I’ve tried signing up for Privacy a while back after hearing about it through an LTT spot. Unfortunately, after registering I was told my account was under review. After inquiring if there was additional info needed, I was told that upon review my account was being deactivated. The same email said they would give no explanation for why this was the case. The support experience behind this was terrible, as I was unable to provide or gather any information regarding this.
  6. I think I just found GeekBench results for the Steam Deck: https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/10001092 In addition to that one from September, there are several from this week (presumably now that they are in reviewers hands)
  7. And they’re suing Google as well: https://www.theverge.com/2020/8/13/21368363/epic-google-fortnite-lawsuit-antitrust-app-play-store-apple-removal An interesting thing The Verge found in the suit: Source: https://www.theverge.com/2020/8/13/21368395/fortnite-epic-games-oneplus-deal-google-play-store-lawsuit-lg via: https://www.engadget.com/fortnite-google-play-lawsuit-035741548.html
  8. @TheLastMillennial I have a feeling this will probably be on Monday's TechLinked. In addition to the forums, it's now on one of the tech news sites they usually reference. Engadget posted about this today referencing this forum post as how they found the Cemetech link: https://www.engadget.com/ti-bans-assembly-programs-on-calculators-002335088.html
  9. Earlier this month NewEgg’s attorneys reported a security breach to the Attorney General of the State of Washington. It states that NewEgg learned of the breach on September 18th and reported it to customers on September 19th. Since then they have learned on October 15th that payment card information may have been accessed. Source: Twitter
  10. @archierrie He used the VM functionality of the unRAID OS which is powered by KVM and Proxmox. He passed through the graphics card so that each VM was outputting through a GPU directly as opposed to using a virtual display adapter.
  11. Not so much a video idea... The format of both TechQuickie and TechLinked would be great as an audio-only podcast. Even if you can't arrange to do it for free, it would be awesome if @Slick and the Floatplane team could setup audio only transcoding and a unique RSS feed per user (something like floatplane.com/channel/linustechtips/podcast?key={RANDOMLY GENERATED USER AUTH TOKEN})
  12. I would suggest using an SVG for the logo, that way it can scale correctly on any size/resolution display.
  13. Invision 4.3 and above support OAuth with the REST API so a user can only act as themselves. https://invisioncommunity.com/developers/rest-api

  21. Full Windows 10, Intel processor, Thunderbolt 3. Of course, it wouldn't even be a Core iX, but perhaps they could work some kind of overclocking with a cooling dock.
  22. What if they made it an x86 Windows 10 phone?
  23. Razer just announced that they have acquired Nextbit, creators of the Robin smartphone. Nextbit has stopped selling the Robin and accessories via it's official channels, and will continue to fulfill warranties for 6 more months. They will also continue to provide software updates and security patches through February 2018.
