libremaster reacted to T-Hacker in PC Meter Application in Windows 10
I believe that I've found the solution to many of the problems that PCMeter has. Especially when upgrading to Windows 10 Aniversary and the gadgets lose all connectivity with PCMeter.
The problem is located in the WMI register entry that is used to store information for the gadgets to read. I'm not sure exactly what's causing PCMeter to fail to publish the objects to WMI, but if you delete the namespace (ROOT\AddGadgets) and restart the gadgets (or reboot the PC). It starts to work again.
The easiest way I found to do this is:
1. Kill PCMeter process (the name in Task Manager is "AddGadgets");
2. Kill Sidebar gadgets (the name in Task Manager is "Windows Desktop Gadgets");
3. Create a file with this name "RemoveAddGadgetsWMI.mof";
4. Open the file and copy and past these lines:
#pragma namespace("\\\\.\\Root")
#pragma deleteinstance("__Namespace.Name='AddGadgets'", FAIL)
5. Save file;
6. Open Command Prompt with Administrator rights (on Windows 8/10 is Win+X key and choose "Command Prompt (Admin)";
7. Type "cd <path where the RemoveAddGadgetsWMI.mof file is located>";
8. Type "mofcomp RemoveAddGadgestsWMI.mof";
9. Start PCMeter and Sidebar gadgets or reboot your PC.
This process worked for me, maybe works for others too.

Maybe you guys have heard of RainMeter, maybe you haven't. I don't see anyone posting about it. Basically allows the same functionality as those old Windows Vista/7 Widgets did back in the day, but is far more customizable than those widgets ever were.
That is just one of a multitude of desktop examples that someone on Reddit came up with.
Find more Rainmeter examples on reddit, or visit https://www.rainmeter.net/discover to discover more.

libremaster got a reaction from Vozella in Are there any better CPU Coolers than the Hyper 212 EVO for around $28.40?
Used the 212 evo since my Q6600 (Was that 5 years ago?) never had a problem and cooled very well all my chips since then.
I went with the H100i and I regret it. Will go back to air very soon.
I can only speak for the evo. So for me, just go with it!

The temperature of the vram modules does concern me slightly; I can easily burn my finger if left on one for a mere 3 seconds.

With the stock cooler and a custom fan curve the card won't go over 72° @ 52% fan

libremaster got a reaction from Cheddle in Overclocked Titan x or gtx970 sli for 4k?
Ok, so today I been playing with my new TITAN-X that just received. Coming from 970SLI (Used it 4 month) I can say that a single TITAN-X with a small OC is a much better experience so far. Games like GTA V - Shadow of Mordor - Dying Light - run a bit faster (Like 5 / 10% depending on the game) but the overall experience is also much smoother.
So, short answer after having both configurations. Single TITAN-X > 970SLI

libremaster got a reaction from Chrislandry238 in 2 GTX 970's or a GTX 980
See the games that you are going to play the most. In my case, I play Final Fantasy XIV witch has a very bad SLI profile (Know issue for a while) so a single 980 would have been a better decision. But, for most of the others games, 2x970 are great. A bit of stuttering (Dying Light...) but then again, It might not be the cards but the games...

libremaster got a reaction from conhasshoff in what motherboard do you have?
ASUS Maximus VII Formula
Was the only ROG Mother board available at the time. And I use ASUS / RoG since I can remember.
Not really. I prefer the ROG Hero over this one. since I don't use many features on this board.

libremaster reacted to i_build_nanosuits in i7 4770k vs i7 4790k
in some part of the world the i7-4770K is noticeably cheaper and Z87 boards are also cheaper...so it depends... I had to suggest a build for a dude in india last week and the links of the shops where he planned to order from man, the Z87/4770K kit was like 20% cheaper than 4790K/Z97
