I got a fraudulent "i9-9900X" from B&H
alphaproject replied to Jasco1997's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Someone might have bought that, put in that Xeon chip and returned it as unopened so they didn't look closely at the chip. -
Oh yea these are junk...... not even close the worth of it.
-
Cinebench doesn't always show the proper OC .
-
More curious about the 2060 personally.
-
Dang my power limit goes to 120 but I can't hit your OC numbers without a crash. Interesting. My core seems fine but when I boost the memory it doesn't like much.

School is using glue mousetraps. What do I do?
alphaproject replied to jtmoseley's topic in Off Topic
Some scary people in this topic... But I had a rat problem and they were really making a lot of noise in my attic and chewing stuff. One family was actually not rats but just mice.... and they were cute and didn't actually do anything but since they were smaller they somehow managed to make it into my room and I caught them and saved two of them. One was a baby, very cute and very fast.... much smarter than the actual rats that were being annoying. Later on the mom came looking for the baby and I caught her too and let her go outside. Later on.... A week later maybe.... A trap guy came in and I thought he was just using "normal" instant kill traps but he was actually using traps AND poison. The poison gets into their system and dehydrates them and they go blind and eventually suffer a horrible sad death. I didn't ask them to do that but it wasn't up to me. How anyone could enjoy watching it, is beyond me and you might as well be a different species than me if you can kill even a pest. I understand killing bugs... like ants that are around us by the thousands.... but they literally exist... then boom, they don't... But even "vermin" have brains... and have thoughts and fears. I tried my best to actually save even the rats but they are dumb... and run from me. One rat managed to get into my bathroom and he was just lying there and I put him outside and he was stumbling around. I didn't know that he might have been poisoned at that time, I found out later. I even tried giving him some water and food but the guy told me he was probably already blind. I think maybe there were only a handful of rats... there has not been any every since.... However in a situation like an actual infestation... I'm not sure what you can really do about it. It's just sad we put ourselves above another creature.... we both end up in the same place. Dead. Everything you do will be gone and forgotten just like that rat. -
What is sad is you can get a job being a total alcoholic but smoke 1 joint and you are screwed. The system is a joke. And BTW... I am not a fan of weed as it didn't agree with me, but I'm just saying....

I sold mine for $120 but it had a broken fan and I was ready to go to the 1060.

Chane audio. Look no further. A2.4 for the smaller speakers. I have the A5.4 Towers. Insane speaker for the money.... I think the Towers will sell out though but not the smaller ones at least... not for a little awhile.

Is buying ex mining cards a good idea?
alphaproject replied to glitchmaster0001's topic in Graphics Cards
A 1070 for a new 1060 price.... hellz ya. Plus... if a card has been used that long, it's sometimes a good sign of a good card and not a card that's going to flake out in a month or even sooner. -
ROTFL... people want to get together with basically normal people and expect everything to go smoothly? This is like if I told people all over the country to drive to my house and I got a migraine when I woke up that day... Not my fault.... shit happens. If you are going to make plans.... life has a way of getting in between that plan sometimes.... you risk it or stay home. IF there was a Youtube call out more than an hour away.... I'm not going, plain and simple. That's just me....

$299 - EVGA SC 1060 6GB Best Buy.
-
One good thing about that card is that it proves it's a solid workhorse. Some new GPU's take a crap in a month of gaming.... You just never know. $234 isn't bad for a 1060 but maybe he will come down to 200....who knows?
-
I believe it, but how is reading bad for your eyes? As in books? Never heard that one before.... ever.

Graphics card prices expected to drop in July by 20%......any thoughts?
alphaproject replied to GOD MAN's topic in Tech News
My thought would be.... good! Would anyone have bad thoughts about it? -
I blame the pedestrian as well.... 80%-20% The lady in the car just happened to be at the worst place at the worst time and I'm willing to bet even a normal driver might have hit that person or ended up crashing their car... I've seen Youtube videos of people that cross the street when they shouldn't and actually cause accidents and they just go on their own way like they did nothing wrong. When did people think it's ok to cross a street like that... like the other person said... you learn NOT to cross street when you are very young. I NEVER have come close to getting hit by a car unless I made a mistake. Regardless of a cars speed.... unless you are blind.... just be careful and check the dang street multiple times if you have to. Also... why was she not on the bike...just made her even slower walking it across that street... terrible. The final truth is.... had she not crossed, she'd be alive... the driver did not crash into her like an out of control driver/car we've seen in other videos.

Apples's Software upgrade of 11.4 draining batteries
alphaproject replied to alphaproject's topic in General Discussion
The fix is making sure you switch to 2.4 gigahrtz wifi instead of 5 gigahrtz. No idea why this would do anything, but my phone lasted a good 5 hours in sleep mode now but not everyone has 2.4 and 5 in their house nor wants to switch. This is the fix for me at least. I'm sure it will have a hotfix soon though. -
https://www.gsmarena.com/ios_114_users_reporting_rapid_battery_drain_post_update-news-31620.php Apple released the iOS 11.4 update late last month. The update included many new features and changes, but it appears to have also brought along a serious problem. A large number of those who updated their devices to iOS 11.4 are complaining about rapid battery drain. There are several threads discussing the problem on Apple's official forum, and on one of these threads, close to a thousand users have confirmed the issue with their unit.

Need help deciding what headphones i should get
alphaproject replied to FlamingOnion_1's topic in Audio
You want the 598 if u want anything.... Or a used pair of DT770s. I sold mine for like 80 bucks. For a small upgrade you could get those multidriver headphones that actually work. https://www.amazon.com/1MORE-Headphones-Isolating-Foldable-Detachable/dp/B0798TVDVJ I have the Sony MDR-Z7 and of course I love em but they were $400- 13 replies

It's only worth upgrading because Zotac's fans usually die... AND if you can't stand how loud it is.... then upgrade but otherwise... it's normally not worth bothering plus you might lose your warranty. Not positive about that....
