rip to anyone that invested in mining a week ago

Ouch! Only time i mine is in the winter when I'm going to pay to heat the house anyways, NO WAY would I mine while paying to run my AC to get rid of the heat...
  4. I'd probably agree with jgperson, either that or you have a VERY slow leak in a high airflow area like in a rad tube and it's evaporating before it actually drips edit: I would probably put some colored coolant or at least dye in there so if it is leaking there should be enough residue to tell where it was.
  5. Sweet, replacing my (multiple) broken evga torq. I really ought to send them back but return shipping a couple of 10$ mice seems wacky... I'll just take this instead
  6. Nice, Thanks! haven't been checking hb lately
  7. isn't that about on par with good 7700k's though? @done12many2 's 7700k is 5.3ghz at 1.44v too. That said it'd be nice if they brought the average up a little and fix TIM issues as my 7700k seems to be "worse" than the worst 7740k they've tested. Currently requiring 1.376v for 5.0GHz and getting too hot to try for 5.1ghz, even with a custom loop.
  8. Cheapest one I know of is that gn246hl I posted on your other thread the other day. Office max had it for 130 I think which is a steal edit: nvrmind it looks like it's back at 180$
  9. hmm iirc I plugged the transmitter in to the pc and that's it. The monitor I was using was 3d ready though too. Sorry I can't help you more! Side note: was looking up my old monitor to see if it was 3d ready and its on a pretty good sale

Just played paintball for the first time in ove…

ha! I used to be really into it from age 11-18ish but then several of the places I played weren't available anymore. I guess now there are several fields in small towns nearby so I may have to think about getting my own setup again. Maybe I'll see if I can work in a cannon.
  11. Just played paintball for the first time in over a decade... oh my god I forgot how much fun that is!  I MIGHT be addicted again, we'll see.

I was that kid who shot 100 paintballs at a time from my potato cannon.

    g-sync is amazing

    mmmmmm gsync
  13. of course they make that available now that I made my own bracket Several Lian-li cases are set in vertical gpu orientation (like the pc-05/06/07s) and a few others.
  14. This build log has been amazing!! You've put an incredible amount of work into JUST documenting this process, on top of the actual process it's self and I really appreciate that. Thanks so much for sharing this with all of us and I hope you enjoy it immensely!

  17. yeah absolutely not! Tell him that he can bring it back to you and you'll give him exactly what he paid for that item... which is nothing at all
  18. The "gas spring" is adjustable for the weight of the monitor so once you find a good tension point then the monitor just kinda floats there and you can push it up or down without tightening or loosening anything, it's pretty cool. I adjusted the tension once or twice in the first week or so and haven't touched them since then. The monitors tilt setting came a little loose on one monitor once but took a few seconds to tighten and has been good ever since then. The asus has been fine, I don't even think that one has the adjustment turned all the way up or anything so there should be some wiggle room. I tried a different but similar one before those and it was pretty much garbage. everything was shaky and bouncy https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA98C48J5088
  19. I picked up a couple of these to mount my 3 monitors. Fits 27" monitors quite well and they haven't given me any issues for about 6 months now. I've got a spare arm hanging out behind the monitors but they make single arm versions too. Currently holding a Dell S2716DG in the center and an Asus PB277Q on each side https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824992204
  20. hm I don't do a LOT of international travel but that would be a big benefit if it works well outside the US.
  21. As far as I can tell phase is dying out but I don't follow it that closely. Seems like everyone uses dice or ln2 cause it's colder/cheaper and you really don't need to be using it longer than a few hours a session anyways. Custom built cascade units would be absurdly expensive I think and probably not the easiest thing to use if you don't know what you're doing with hvac systems. Modifying your own is a lot of work and requires a lot of special tools/equipment which would easily double your costs. I've been kinda wanting to get into it myself since I am an HVAC technician and have all these tools at my disposal, but I just don't have enough free time atm. I currently have a pile of working components (both PC and HVAC) but we'll see when I get around to it. I may just buy a pot and dump some dice in there and call it a day cause it would be SO much easier i think. Maybe @Jumper118 can put me in my place and tell you what you need to know though since he's actually into phase

I'm restoring this nice bass I got. Fender jazz…

Nice, love that look! Reminds me of my first fender guitar
  23. I live an active life and am always moving and always have my card in my wallet which is always in my back pocket. I think part of it has to do with working construction type jobs where I'm always moving and causing rubbing/friction to everything in my wallet for 10 hours a day 5-6 days a week. I'll burn through a leather wallet in a few years usually I'll admit the chip part of the cards have been lasting a lot longer, but the strip based portion (which is still used a lot here) goes bad very quickly for me. @paddy-stonesounds like a good deal. If I actually end up getting more than a couple cards I might end up looking in to that.
  24. of course you can overload a phase change unit. They are designed to handle a certain amount of load and beyond that temps will start suffering and you may shorten the units lifetime. It's like leaving the windows open while the AC is on, it can't keep up and its going to get hot. Temps are going to go way up if you're overloading it, eventually the compressor will probably shut off due to high pressure or temperature lockouts on the high side. If you'll get -30c at 300w at 500w you might be lucky to get 0c. Thats just my guess but at a certain point you won't even be cold enough to really make a big difference in clock speeds. You'd probably be best off trying to find a larger unit or find someone who can custom make one for your specific needs
  25. I have to order a new card a couple times a year as it is because thats how hard I am on it. I just don't think that adding all that "stuff" to it is a reasonable idea for people like me. That curve card sounds like an interesting idea but the security would be my concern
