  1. Thank you guys for the suggestions. Much Appreciated! I guess it makes sense to go for the 7700 and spend some extra money to get better memory.
  2. I am planning to upgrade my desktop after more than 10 years now. I would be using it primarily for software development. I generally work off of docker containers, have multiple instances of IDEs running and some browser tabs open. I plan to keep this new setup for at least 7-8 years from now and hence would like to future proof it somewhat. I won't be gaming currently but may occasionally game in the future (though not heavily). I am planning to get only the CPU, memory and motherboard as I have the other components already. Here is what I have in mind: Memory: Crucial Pro 32GB (2*16) 6000MHZ Motherboard: MSI B650M Gaming Wifi I am confused between the Ryzen 8700G ($329) and the 7700 ($284). The 8700G has better graphics (which might be enough for my light gaming in the future?) but has limited PCI lanes which might not be the best option if I want to add a dedicated GPU later (at least 4-5 years down the line). On the other hand, 7700 is cheaper by $45, double the L3 cache (32MB) than 8700G (16MB) and also has better support for a GPU down the line. Do you think the 7700's extra L3 cache would help my workload? The 8700G is the max I can stretch my budget to. I also don't want to get the AM4 platform even if it provides me better value since I will be keeping this setup for a long time. I would appreciate any suggestions on 8700G vs 7700 for my workload. Thank you!
  3. Just a small doubt. I couldn't find the prices that you have mentioned for the ThinkPad models. Could you please send a link.
  4. I will be using the laptop for programming. I will also be using android studio and some heavy software.
  5. The HP and acer models already have a SSD. You can add a m.2 SSD in the Dell Model. SSDs have become way cheaper. You can get a 240GB SSD for around 2300INR
  6. I am looking to buy a new laptop during the Black Friday sale. I am confused between a number of laptops and would like to get your suggestions.. HP 17t : https://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/hp-laptop-17t-7gz70av-1?jumpid=adscan Price= $580 This looks like the best deal but my only concern being the user reviews. I could not find a lot of reviews apart from those on the HP website. This is a 17" laptop and hence I am a little worried about its portability. HP Pavilion 15 Z: https://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/hp-pavilion-laptop-15z-5mu54av-1?jumpid=adscan Price= $590 This also looks like a good deal. This is a 15" laptop and hence no problems with its portability. But not sure if i can compare the Ryzen 7's performance with that of the i7 coupled with the Radeon 530 4GB in previous model. Acer Aspire 5: https://www.newegg.com/charcoal-black-acer-aspire-5-a515-54g-70tz-mainstream/p/N82E16834316759?Item=34-316-759&Tpk=34-316-759&cm_sp=2019-_-BlackFriday-_-Eflyer-_-34-316-759 Price= $600 This model is pretty popular and has many reviews. This seems to be a well balanced config. But i feel i am missing out on the 16GB of ram from the previous two models. I am kind of inclined towards the 17" HP. The only problems being the lack of user reviews and the screen size. All suggestions are welcome. Thank You!

You can add a SSD later on.
