Swapping Intel cpu+mobo for amd; questions.
FLUFFYJELLO replied to whatishacks's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Overclock. Fix your drivers. Troubleshoot your issues. Switching from the 2014 Intel platform to a 2011/2012 AMD platform is a waste in all circumstances. And before calling someone an idiot, consider the idea of upgrading to a 4790(K) which would destroy any AMD processor in any application. Edit: or grab a Xeon 1231v3 as the person above me said; also a better option than the FX platform. -
Fx 9590 .Should I buy it?
FLUFFYJELLO replied to adarshbp010's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
And my 4790K takes 6.6 second to boot. My 4690K takes a whopping 3.1 seconds to boot, though that might be because of how simple a system it is (only 1 SSD, no HDD, fastboot enabled). Nothing either of you have said changes anything: the 9590 is abysmal is terms of performance/$; and certainly not worth it to "upgrade" from an 8150. And your "don't compare a years old platform to a new one" kinda works against you. Why upgrade within the same generation of processors, ESPECIALLY when that generation is years old now? It doesn't make sense. -
Always Z97 over H97 if they're the same cost. More features and generally better design.

FLUFFYJELLO replied to adarshbp010's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
"Placebo effect" he says without finding a single source that discredits what everyone had been saying from the start: Intel > AMD right now. The 9590 does not offer nearly enough benefit over an 8150 to justify the cost at all. But Intel provides much better minimum frame rates and overall performance across the board. So save up, DO NOT get the 9590, and switch to Intel unless Zen comes out and goes beyond the projected performance numbers (which are speculated to be about equal with Intel's Ivy Bridge, still 3 gens behind). Come on, Benji; stop deluding yourself. -
I essentially use my Xbox One for Destiny (which is fucking amazing and bungie were fools to abandon the PC port) and Black Ops 3. The reason being: I have a large group of friends that have consoles but no PCs, they don't want to invest into building our buying a gaming PC because they're happy with the games they play. And if someone is happy playing console games, who are we to say they wasted their money? I would much rather go out and spend $300-$400 on a console so I could play games with those friends, then ask them to spend $500-$700 on a powerful gaming computer and try and play catch-up with a steam library made up of only budget games during Steam's summer sale. If you want an Xbox, go for it. But honestly, just rent Halo 5, out borrow it from a friend. It was pretty sloppy.

Cheap black/orange motherboard

Yeah I know, it's just a disgustingly bright red -
Cheap black/orange motherboard
FLUFFYJELLO replied to NiteTF2's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
The killer boards are red. It's a bright red, but still red.The only LGA 1150 mobos with orange/black are the Gigabyte SOC and SOC Force. Both are well beyond £80 -
What's wrong with MSI motherboards?
FLUFFYJELLO replied to legend8887's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
They are very good, who have you been talking to? -
I've gone through and beat the majority of the story, and while multiplayer is phenomenal I would much rather play some cooperative raids, especially with the Taken King expansion. But I just got an XB1 a few days ago and have nobody to party with. Any guardians available for some co-op Destiny?

Heck I'll gladly sacrifice 1-2 fps to keep costs down. And that's easily within margin of error, too. Glad testing is going along smoothly. Keep it up! -
6 whole days! Oh wow, alright guys we're gonna need to take back every negative review about CX PSUs, this guy's been F@H for SIX DAYS!/s

For those people living near a Microcenter out other computer hardware outlet, the price difference is more $90-$120 difference. The "boatloads of new features" argument is BS. Average Joe consumer will not need the extra PCIE lanes, higher speeds on M.2 or with NVMEs, or DDR4 (which offers no tangible benefit in gaming except within margin of error). And if it's for productivity, get a Haswell-E X99 setup. Bottom line is unless you can get a monstrous deal on Skylake over Haswell, it's not worth it. Except for maybe epeen =P

CPU for Streaming/Youtube
FLUFFYJELLO replied to CalebTheEternal's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Xeon. If he wants the core count (hyperthreading in this case) and power of a streaming PC without an i7, he needs to get a Xeon. A 9000 series FX chip should never, under any circumstances, be considered. An 8000 series+overclock would be all I could even remotely consider on AMD's side in this case. But the Xeon exists, a 1230v3 or 1231v3 is just a 4770 with no iGPU, and cost ~$100 less. Boom, there's your answer. Oh, and coolio fact: you only need a run of the mill cheapo B87/H81/H87 mobo to run the Xeon, which will save more money over the FX platform. -

Probably very low since this is a business venture
