Chris Yahya got a reaction from jwwagner25 in Let's talk about future pc building especially gpus
(this is not nvidia only, but all gpu makers. Because I have more experience in nvidia so I use it as example. But this is for all gpu makers, because they practice same price raising too)
Looking back when series 60 nvidia (GTX 1060) priced around 264 Usd in my country that time, and then now series 60 (RTX 3060) priced at 765 USD, then it's price markup almost 2.8 times higher.
Is this nvidia intending to price every new gens way higher than before?
So if rtx 5060 arrived.. The price would be 1390 usd?
And "best bang for buck" gpus(series 50) cheapest will be around 695 usd? Back then, people ask budget 550 usd PC, they could build a powerful machine with high end graphic card in that time.
So now with a budget 550 usd, we only can get a pc without graphics cards? What u guys think about pc gaming / build pc futures?
From what I see, likely in the future will be dystopian/gloomy, and most people will hunt old techs (nvidia Gen 10, gen 20) and new gen gpu will be a very luxury stuff.
But ain't that game industry will go down? Because majority of people unable to play their game smoothly because their gpu stagnant (still using old techs)
So game markets are for rich people/successful editor content making who make lots money to able buy new generation of GPU?
Please share your thoughts! Thank you.

It fits fine. The specs listed doesn't account for the side panel bump.
You can see the taller Hyper 212 Evo fitting in the same case here: https://pcpartpicker.com/builds/by_part/pDphP6#h=8

Chris Yahya reacted to ARikozuM in M.2 SSD or SATA SSD
I wouldn't buy a SATA M.2 at all! All that potential wasted... for the same price as the faster model!

Chris Yahya reacted to DisconnectedYT in M.2 SSD or SATA SSD
M.2 I think is much faster then Sata but quite alot more expensive!

M.2 is just the slot. In that slot the SSDs are either connected through SATA or PCIe. Therfore this Gen 3 x4 because it uses Gen 3 PCIe lanes and 4 of them.
And it all depends on whether you want to spend the money or not.

It's just normal 32GBps ... but since it's that fast, they just added TURBO.
Because fast and stuff.
Most motherboard over 150€ have the exact same feature.

Your MSI Z170A-Pro M.2 slot has 32Gb/s speed. However if you plug a 850 EVO in(it will work), the speed will be limited by the SSD itself. Which has "only" 550MB/s transfer speed.
It's like drive a car with a top speed of 100Km/h on a high way with 300Km/h speed limit. The car is the limiting factor.

Chris Yahya reacted to manikyath in Which builds is better?
easy to find out: grab a benchmark of the kind you want to test (probably game benchmark) and see how both systems do.
i'm actually curious to see how both systems fare in a benchmark.

Chris Yahya reacted to TheKDub in overclock gtx970 with 500w psu
Depends on the brand of GTX 970 and model.
My g1 gaming can reach around +150Mhz core +400-500mhz mem with 112% power limit +0mV on the core.

No, you need a Z97 motherboard to OC an unlocked "k" processor.
The bigger issue, is that H81 motherboards are not compatible with Devil's Canyon processors without a BIOS update, and you cannot even enter the BIOS without a Haswell CPU, so you really had no chance of it working even from the start.
You need to find a friend who owns a Haswell processor and borrow it to do the update, or return the H81 and buy an H97, or Z97 if you want to overclock.
If you live near a Microcenter, there is currently a really good deal on a Gigabyte Z97-HD3 for $55 after $20 MIR. You actually might not be limited to in-store only with that deal.

I think so, now I'm considering to buy a single chip 8GB.
