jackninja1 got a reaction from MariusJS in New Platform Launch Feedback & FAQ
I want to share my two cents about the whole Vessel thing and how things are going with LTT.
This is probably as effective as talking to a wall because nobody is going to read this but still I want to get some stuff of my chest.

First and formost: NO WE ARE NOT ENTITLED TO ANYTHING, Linus (and the rest of LTT) can do what they want, when they want it. If they want to upload there video's to PornHub from now on they are free to do so. Linus does not have any obligations with his audience he does not own us anything. And please for the love of god stop using the word entitled because everytime I hear it I trow up a little.

Linus moved to Vessel, a online video platform like YouTube but with a monthly subscription fee. Some people say that Vessel is not a competitor of YouTube, I disagree on that. They are in the same market space, target the same audience and want to provide a premium over YouTube by having video's released earlier on there platform and maybe even exclusives. I will be talking about Vessel and it's problems in a minute.

Now why does it sting a little (with me) that Linus choose to move Vessel (or rather produce content that will be up on Vessel a week or so in advance)?
I have been a viewer of LTT for a very very long time. Chest mounted tripod, Linus dying his hair about every week or so and also the dark time (the one's who were around back then probably know where I'm talking about). I have seen the channel grow very big and I am pretty happy for LTT and where they are now. It just feels like a kick in the teeth that after all the support and things that LTT have been trough Linus chooses another platform over YouTube, and yes I know it is "OPTIONAL" and "NOTHING IS GOING TO CHANGE" but it just feels weird. After all the "stay tuned for part 1-z of ..." and "This video is brought to you by ...." and of course the new office campaign I just get the feeling that I/we didn't do our "job" correctly and that after all that well at least I have seen it was not enough so just deal with it. It just feels like they say hey everything goes up in advance on Vessel, YouTube is not our platform of choice anymore. Don't get me wrong I understand why LTT keeps teasing video's and doing sponsered video's and I am completely OK with that, YouTube CPM low, and again I completely get that.

And the ting is I/we should be more mad at YouTube (or shouldnt we?) for treating it's content providers like shit. They should have gone all out on preventing things like Adblocker (by the way when you use Adblocker you are a douchbag). In my opinion it is absolutely ridiculous that YouTube is not even profitable for Google itself, it is absolutely absurd.

Now about Vessel, oh my Vessel Vessel Vessel you so flawed it makes me cry.
Here are my problems with Vessel in no particular order:
No android app Ads even tho you pay monthly for it, thats a bit curious for me No android app, android has more market share than Apple but no android app in which fucking year are we living No proper mobile website No android app, seriously? They seem like the kind of guys who would sell an app to you that is secretly just a website There needs to be a android app because we live in 2015 That was all, to sum it up: it just stings, I get it but it stings.
Even tho this post is completely pointless (there is no point in arguing when nothing is going to change) I felt like I needed to explain myself more when I said/say: "I am not happy with the fact that Linus has chosen to make video's and put them up on Vessel a week in advance behind a paywal, even tho I understand it I am not happy with it".

A company known as Arubixs announced a smartwatch concept with 6'' (or 4'') screen on Indigogo, and now they don't exist anymore OR DO THEY

They announced the project recently on Indigogo and asked for a low $300,000.
Their Indigogo page is not available any more. Have they given up already?

The screen would obviously be bendable (not the Apple type of bendable) and would be a whopping 6" or 4", which is in my opinion to big (and that's coming from a guy with a Note and (thus has) experience with big things). The fact that they are asking for such an extreamly little amount of money should raise atleast a couple of eyebrows.

And, while it would be very cool, the chance that a company from out of nowhere can deliver those promessis is of course really small.
My guess is that it is a social experiment and they where trying to make a thing go viral so that they can study it. Or it's just a prank.

I would recommend reading the article from Engadget where they completely bust this concept.

EDIT OH LOOWRDD I WAS WRONG:
Apperantly they are still going, and it is a fault at Indigogo, not a hoax.

An interesting article from Giant Bomb in which they state that Microsoft is rethinking there policy's when it comes to DRM and used games etc.

Microsoft is currently having a lot of negative PR with the Xbox One because of its DRM policy and used game policy.
Sony has stated that they will not restrict the user when it comes to being always online and trading games with friends etc.

What does this means, quoted from Giant Bomb:

No more always online requirement The console no longer has to check in every 24 hours All game discs will work on Xbox One as they do on Xbox 360 An Internet connection is only required when initially setting up the console All downloaded games will function the same when online or offline No additional restrictions on trading games or loaning discs Region locks have been dropped If this is true it is a giant turnaround of Microsoft.

Still this will for me not make the One an interesting console, the price is too damn high.

To be honest I think this is great and I am not really surprised, Microsoft needed to do something to make there console interesting.

This is still a rumor so take it with a piece of salt, but Giant Bomb is a good and accurate site when it comes to gaming news.

Xbox One sets sights on 400m sold, Xbox 360 aims for 100m

Microsoft has gone on record and say that they want to sell 400m Xbox One's and a total of 100m Xbox 360's of which currently 77m have been sold.

This is possibly a very, very bad thing. In this topic I wont try to hate on the One's features like Xbox TV but I want to explain why 400m Xbox One's sold could be bad for the gaming industry.

Firstly, Microsoft needs a miracle to sell an other 33m 360's. While some consoles remain very popular even after the announcement of their successor another 33m consoles is a lot. They will probably have to drop the price of the 360 way down to make it even remotely interesting.

Secondly Microsoft aims to sell 400m Xbox One's. Now this could be very bad news for 2 reasons I think:

    1) Microsoft wants to keep the Xbox One in the market longer than the Xbox 360 (the 360 will be in total 8-10 years on the market):
This is the worst possible scenario. It has been proven that the Xbox One on launch will have the specs of a mid-range low-end pc. It isn't as powerful as an PS4.
So the One is being put in the market while it is already behind current generation technology. This can lead to the One slowing down gaming technology like new image technology or that games will have lower res textures because the One can not handle high res textures. Now this wouldn't be a problem if the console had a lifespan of 2 years. Microsoft could then release a console with for that time current generation technology. But since the lifespan of the console will probably be as long if not longer than the Xbox 360 the Xbox One will be massively under powered by the time it is EOL or when a successor is announced. This will lead to (as I said) a stagnating game market where games are held back because of the hardware for which they are designed.

    2) The market accepts the One and everyone and his dog buys one:
This might look not bad and it could very well be a good thing, but its probably not. When Microsoft sells 400m Xbox One's in 8 - 10 years they clearly had a great success with the console. You can conclude than that the market wants a device that isn't necessarily focused primarily on gamers but that is also targeted at people who for example want a browser and skype on their tv and don't want to buy a high-end tv. While this isn't a bad thing for "typical consumers aka your/my mom" this could lead to a bigger focus shift towards "casual" consoles with built in tv box and browser and where gaming isn't the primary feature. When Microsoft than launches their successor of the One, the main focus will not be on gaming but on "casual things", and then, why would they release the next One with high-ends specs when a low end specced machine also sells very very well. And then (as I said in reason 1) the gaming industry and the gaming "development" (not the creation but the overall level of for example textures and other things).

While I have to admit, it is a lot of future talk but it isn't bad to look ahead. Also if Microsoft manage's to sell 400m consoles but they are only bought by gamers they might focus towards a more "gamer friendly" console.

I hope that I have informed you enough. It wasn't my intention to hate on Microsoft or on the Xbox One, I just wanted to inform you and give you my opinion about that.

A like is appreciated and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.

Well I cant wait to hear the opinion of Linus and Slick on this given there "good" experience with EA.

Lets hope they dont screw it up, I still have faith in EA, in Dice ea. Battlefield in the Star Wars universe is an instant buy, especially because of the frostbite engine.
