  1. I dropped my PC with a hyper 212 evo and the heatpipes on the contact plate popped out a bit and it wouldn't make a good contact anymore so I had to replace it
  2. I get about 28 MB/s from steam most days, even during peak hours.
  3. My little brother had a gorilla glass screen protector. Dropped his phone, entire screen mosaic-ified and the screen protector didn't have a single scratch. Basically don't count on any screen protector to protect against anything but scratches, and don't drop your damn phones.
  4. how do you even make that mistake....?!
  5. You're doing god's work my friend, stem the tide of obvious troubleshooting, new builds and graphics cards threads polluting our fair general discussion!
  6. Shit. So they are. I was just confused by the (in my opinion) abnormal placement of the >/< sign, but yes it is correct.
  7. Linus tech tips forum user logic: >Product I'm not familiar with >Must be bullshit Things like the above product are legit, and do work, as can be seen in that video.
  8. I didn't realise that "fun" was not a word in most techies' day to day vocabularies, but clearly that is the case. The OP clearly indicates this would be just for a laugh.
  9. What I would say to you is that you should just go for it. Don't read internet guides or watch a really long video series on coding, just start out trying to make pong (for example). Use google along the way to find out how to draw a circle, how to make the circle move, how to make the paddles and so on. Just learn by doing, and if you can't come up with ideas, learn by copying old games and then push yourself to add something interesting to them. By game 6 or 7 you'll really be getting somewhere. If you want to get into formal games development (ie working at Rockstar games or something) then you'd realistically either need to build up a portfolio of interesting and well made games this way, or take a degree course in computer science.
  10. Generally speaking unless something's in a vacuum it will loose most of it's heat by convection and conduction. Radiation doesn't tend to come into effect until you're muuccchhhhhh hotter.
  11. I wouldn't worry. The worst COD to date (Ghosts) still outsold Battlefield 3:1. Battlefield and COD are not competing franchises. They have very separate audiences and most purchasers will always buy the next game in the series regardless.
  12. Okay then. Suuuurre. It doesn't matter that there's more to computers than programming, that's the main point of a compsci degree.
  13. Almost the entire point of computer science degrees *is* programming. If you want to specialise into networking then you should probably have taken a networking degree.
  14. I think your CPU is just not powerful enough to be honest.
  15. There aren't many impressive buildings where I live, but I guess if I had to pick one it would be the Abbey:
  16. Shit, meant to put that in the OP. I would like over ear headphones, closed back for noise isolation, no more than £200.
  17. I've gotten to the point where I'm sick of my apple ear buds (not sure how I managed for about a year) and I'd like to get some better over ear headphones to use with my iPod classic and iPhone. I know that "audiophile" headphones often suffer when being driven by phones or other small devices, but I'm not willing to carry an amp around with me, so the headphones will need to be able to be driven by just the phone on it's own. I'd like noise cancellation as well, or at least very good noise isolation. Thanks in advance for any pointers you can give me.
  18. Do you have any spare usb 3 headers because you can buy adapters for those that allow the connection of usb 2 headers (afaik)
  19. Literally the only point of a government is keeping its people safe. If this keeps young people safe, then it's a good thing.
  20. This should be in the Experiences with non-techies thread. No big deal though a mod will move it for you
  21. Just because it was the kid's fault, and because people are stupid sometimes doesn't mean that if possible stuff should be made safer. It's a lot easier and cheaper to just install more lights than it is to launch an effective education campaign about texting and walking. Schools can't even teach some people the importance of condoms or whatever let alone why they shouldn't answer a text whilst walking.
