Motherboard VRM Tier List v2 (currently AMD only)
bestbattle replied to Jurrunio's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hello, people! Is this list of actuality? Any info regarding Intel Z790 boards? -
Short Circuit doesn't have a forum thread for every video? Regarding the glass mousepads video (most recent as of posting), can you buy a borosilicate glass (used for 3D printers beds) and use it as a mousepad?

No matter how much you try to fool the sensors, you won't fool the compressor which will draw liquid any moment there - not having enough thermal load, will make the refrigerant not completely boil inside the vaporizer (CPU block) and you'll get liquid inside the compressor. You won't notice it first, just after you burn out the motor's coils. Ex-AC service engineer speaking from experience

Linus said in the video that you are planning a positive pressure schematic. I HOPE FROM THE DEEP OF MY HEART THAT YOU DON'T DO THAT! Is absolutely stupid to try and force air through a rad only to have that air stay near the rad on the exhaust side. You should be repelling heat away. So in your application, negative pressure is the only solution. But you have to account for the holes in the video card and the mobo IO.

Apple NEEDS to Innovate - Zenbook PRO Duo Review
bestbattle replied to James's topic in LTT Releases
15 minutes ago my PC froze and had to restart it. Then I watch this video freaking out. Had to check both YT comments and the forum to be sure. Also, vids are earlier on float plane, right? Is it glitched there too? -
This Cooler DRAWS 545W!!? Bad Cooling Ideas #2
bestbattle replied to AlexTheGreatish's topic in LTT Releases
@AlexTheGreatish, TECs are mostly used for transferring heat fast from one side to the other. That rating you find on it is usually their power consumption, not transfer capabilities. For starting, if you get a 545W peltier and want to transfer 200W of heat from an Intel CPU, you need to have, on the hot side, a cooling system of AT LEAST 545+200W (for better results take in consideration a 30% margin of error, so around 970W of cooling is a minimum). -
We FINISHED the $100,000 PC! - 6 Editors 1 CPU Pt. 5
bestbattle replied to jakkuh_t's topic in LTT Releases
Correct that noob mistake and move all the fans so that they blow heat away from the radiators, not blow are through then. You lose all the pressure by trying to push air. And if you look at all industrial application (even your AC internal unit) they all blow air away from the heat exchanger and are always installed in front of them. Please correct this and keep this aspect in mind always. -
@AlexTheGreatish, Because you used only copper, you could have used silver sticks (copper with 15% silver alloy) to solder the heat pipes properly and have the best results (regarding the heat transfer). Other than that, good job! If you ever need help or recommendations regarding this kind of stuff (heat transfer problems) don't hesitate to PM me.

How hard did he drop the processor that he damaged a memory channel? I mean, if they had pins on the processor, I understand. But they are pretty much monolithic. Are you sure there isn't just grease or other debris on the pads? Or motherboard had bad pins?

The smaller you go in size, the higher you go in price - even though you're using less material. The price is because these kind of cases (Dan's for example) are made in small number. When making a really small HTPC you are the one who delimits the budget: DanCase would be ~15% of your system cost, which is high indeed. But if small footprint is more important than choosing best buys, then the choice is clear.

Asus as always fails with the software support. This gives them a +1 to their score of ∞ points of "worst support ever"
