  1. now my AC is making coil whine, lord help

  2. uhhh crap, uh I've been known for being really (really) bad at keeping promises for requests, unless you want to wait for months with the slight offchance that I'll actually be bummed to do it, uhhh
  3. This is my first time trying to do some sort of animation/motion graphic with after effects, so uh yeah, not much else to mention here... http://zippy.gfycat.com/AridBlondDoe.webm I also made an extended version that looks a bit "eh" I spent most of the time actually drawing the assets for it in photoshop lol I'm surprised how easy it is to get the hang of after effects, I literally only watched half of a tutorial and then I started working on this I think the best part is that they loop pretty well lol It's obviously not perfect, so what can I improve on in the future? I know the case ejections have a weird trajectory and the "fast" shots look pretty wonky, so what else is there?
  4. I'd take the 970 in this case; more overclocking headroom with the lower power consumption and heat output
  5. The 970 beats the 390 in 1080p, but at higher resolutions the 390 may slightly beat it with double the VRAM it has. The 970 also consumes less power and is slightly quieter. You can overclock with software like Afterburner to adjust the freq and fan curves and stuff.
  6. And they're gonna name the whole series after me! Thanks guys! /s
  7. WE'D LIKE TO THANK OUR SPONSOR PHANTOM GLASS, PHANTOM GLASS IS THE ONLY SCREEN PROTECTOR YOU'LL EVER NEED, SO GO TO STORE.PHANTOM.GLASS TO FIND OUT MORE /s
  8. I got it to work I removed my 970 from its pcie slot and left it somewhere, then I booted with integrated graphics and went into clover's bootloader I didn't add any custom boot flags, I just left it to its defaults and proceeded to install Yosemite. Everything worked fine from there. But now I'm having conundrums with installing nvidia's web drivers. I've got OSX 10.10.3, and I've downloaded 3 versions in an attempt to see if they work: 343.01.01a16, 343.01.02f01 and 346.01.02f01 .pkg files, and none of them will work. When i try running them it says something along the lines of "this osx version 10.10.3 is not supported, check nvidia's support for more info" and stuff, so which web driver version works?
  9. -x would cause it to have a kernel panic and reboot into clover again, I haven't tried -f yet, will try that. -v does the verbose mode which is all that text output, but then it boots into an apple screen when its done; which is where im stuck at now
  10. After a few months of laziness, I attempted to try hackintoshing again. My previous thread here http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/238087-ive-tried-an-infinite-amount-of-boot-flags-for-my-hackintosh/had a reply that I forgot to see, so I tried it once again. This time I'm using clover instead of chameleon, and I've made more progress compared to last time. This time I found that just using -v nv_disable=1 got me the furthest, but now the furthest I get is after all the verbose text whizzes by, it boots into a black screen with an apple logo, with an empty loading bar and I have access to a spinning beach ball mouse. Here's a pic http://i.imgur.com/eCa1v6bh.jpgI let it sit there for half an hour, and nothing. The bar hasn't moved and all I can do is move around a spinning beach ball. Am I doing something wrong or am I supposed to wait longer? I've followed tonymacx86's Yosemite clover tutorial also put my DSDT and SSDT .aml files in too. My specs should be in my sig. Oh yea, I've unplugged all my other drives with windows and stuff, so its just one drive plugged in with Ubuntu on it, which I plan to install osx onto that drive (typed this on my phone so idk if the formattings all messed up)
  11. Offtopic but here's what I saw for this thread: i had my hopes up
  12. Is that $1000 USD? Because you could get something much better than an FX 6300 with 1 grand. You could possibly get a 4690k and a 290 for that price

  14. This is how one of their meetings goes: Boss: we need new innovations for our next flagship Others: we could add a better camera Others: we could add a better battery Others: we could remove some of the bloatware that come with our current ones Others: we could make a better design and not steal other's Others: we could improve the build quality Others: we could provide a better, more efficient cpu Others: we could allow expandable storage Others: we could sell it cheaper Others: we could add a better transmitter and reciever Others: we could add more ram That one guy: we could add an unnecessary larger display so we can lure unknowing common folk about this great 5 inch 4k display that will ruin the battery life and graphical performance and will have no perceivable difference unless you hold a magnifying glass up to it Boss: by joe, you're a fucking genius, you shall be promoted to my chief assistant and you'll get 9000% raise, make this new phone immediately
  15. I was having a skype chat with my friend yesterday and he asked me how much ram my setup had, I just told him I had 16gb and that it was fine, and he said "aha, I have yet to find someone with more ram than me" So I proceeded to ask him and he said he had 64gb on his laptop, he said he and his dad built his laptop, and he said that his dad "works for this kinda shit, trust me". I then asked him to list his specs, to which he hastily started blurting out "uh, killer e2200, uhhhh sound blaster, uhhhhh GTX 850, 1tb ssd with a 1tb hdd and some cooler boost button", I assumed that he used an msi barebones laptop case to which he nervously replied "yea". So I asked him what cpu he had, to which he replied after a few seconds, "uhhh 17 (seventeen, seven fucking teen), no wait, i7", he then laughed it off (I presume he was just reading the stuff off the stickers on his laptop). He also stated that "I soldered shit together when i built the laptop with my dad". After I asked him to send a screenshot of his specs on cpu-z and gpu-z etc, he said "ey man don't distract me, im watchin ze youtubes, ill do it later". I haven't gotten a response after an entire day. The smell of bullshit was so strong, I could feel it in my lungs. Seriously though, who pairs a 1tb ssd with a gtx 850 and 64 fucking gigabytes of ram (do laptop ram sticks even go up to that capacity without costing like $1000)? He said he doesn't do any content creation, only steam games, so this made no sense whatsoever. I don't mind educating people who genuinely want to know more about computers, but self entitled assholes who believe that they know everything and have wads of cash to spend on the most unnecessary shit are the real scum of the earth. I'm sure no one will see this at almost 800 pages, but if you're on a marathon streak like I am, I congratulate you for getting this far
  16. Aw too bad they're just generic i5's and shit, there's a wide spectrum of i5's and i7's
  17. Around 33-34 degrees C when not OC'd and in an air conditioned room with just MS word, chrome and steam open.
  18. It's analog and the connector is shitty and old, well to me it's just outdated considering it was released almost 3 decades ago
