don,t ever upgrade, please the i7 2500k is a monster, the 680 is a fucking beast and you're the only guy i know with a 2500k and a 680. please use them until they die.

Just downloaded gta 4, got into the options menu and boom, not able to change anything, settings stuck at 800x600 at low settings, this was on my laptop which has an i7 4700mq and a 770m, so i think there's no problem with the hardware, can someone help me with this.

I recently upgraded to a GTX 680 (I'm behind the times a bit) and got excited about gaming again so I decided why not do some overclocking and see what I can do.  Thankfully I decided to do a little baseline without any oc to see how my system was doing.  Not good was the answer (see below).

 

As another fun tidbit this same computer caught on fire, was thrown out a window, hosed down and left outside for a while https://www.reddit.com/r/techsupport/comments/1kh84j/my_desktop_almost_burnt_my_house_down/  I think all I replaced since then was the PSU, case and GPU (unrelated though).  Ram still has scorch marks, I don't think I even removed the heatsink from the cpu.  Reliable system other then the occasional fire.

 

 

edit: oh forgot to mention, the CPU got up to 83c before I decided to shut the test down.  It seemed to be throttling at that point anyway.  Also for those that are crying for my poor CPU, don't fear I have a Phantek PH-TC14PE on the way.

I love a good 680, never get rid of it man.

The chances of getting a false VAC ban are slim to none also you can still play all of your other games you only get VAC ban for the game u cheated on what ever one that is.

Do you mean you use CheatEngine in single player? If so, when you join a multiplayer server and the program is still running you'll be promptly VAC banned.

No no no, i only use cheat engine for what it's meant for, singleplayer, not multiplayer. calm down.

If you provide evidence to prove them wrong they will listen, otherwise your going to have to wait out the ban.

I wasn't doing shit. i was on a dod:s server and i started speeding up randomly. and i got banned. i have no idea how that happened or why,

If you got VAC banned, you are a cheater.. Do you have Cheatengine installed or anything?

On singleplayer only though, i'm not that kind of guy.
