How is he going to respond to what he said, he doubled down in a 5 minute rant on wan show explaining why he did it the way he did it, then came on here tripled down and was condescending towards the company.

He is only going to respond different to save his ass

Understandable, but if you value context that much, you should still watch the entirety of the video. Otherwise it comes off as a bit of a double-standard.

    @LinusTech
First of all, thank you for the prompt response. Unfortunately, the answer has only deepened my disappointment and further eroded my trust in LTT. The comment about the pitchforks particularly struck a chord. I believe this highlights that the issues raised have been a concern for many in the community for some time. Responding with disappointment doesn't help anyone.

If the topics Steve raised were truly non-issues, the community's reaction, especially here, would be different. Reading Linus's statement, I got an even stronger impression that he's losing touch with the community. It seems he's looking down from his ivory tower, unable to understand the discontent among his followers.
Since the union incident (which I'd like to leave aside as there might be cultural differences at play), I've noticed more and more statements and behaviors characteristic of people in power, who aren't often contradicted on an equal footing. Linus claims he's always open to feedback and that anyone can approach him, but being in such a position means recognizing that mere words aren't enough.

Listening to the interviews with the staff, it's a recurring theme that they all wish for better quality and more time. This begs the question: why isn't this feedback being escalated? Given the number of employees who've voiced this concern, there shouldn't be any difficulty in garnering support for it unless such concerns never reach the top where decisions are made.

LTT boasts a host of capable employees, and it's clear to me that they're deeply passionate about their work. However, I feel that the management is falling short, and Linus is losing touch not just with his employees, but more crucially, with the community. I hope someone like Luke will sit down with Linus and explain to him why a "trust me bro" attitude no longer works and why he can't react to community criticism with disappointment.

I'm glad GN released the video, giving the community an avenue to express their feelings and concerns and ensuring they're heard.

Steve said and I quote - "LMG has put one of a kind block up for auction". Whether it's for charity (which I think most of the people who watch GN nad LTT know it was) or not is irrelevant. So it the fact that you've compensated the Billet Labs. It shows a bigger issue within the company that's mixed up with lower video quality.

Billet Labs didn't just lose money on this but a great, functioning prototype. It's priceless in engineering. Don't be that guy that says "I compensated them for it, it's fine". Own it and apologize publicly.

Regarding reviews mistakes- you've said you're improving a bunch of times now and I don't doubt that. But at the same time you cannot use that argument for everything, especially with so many viewers onboard. It shouldn't be that every time you make a mistake (and there were quite a few recently) you just go "whoops...but...but... we're getting better". At some point it just starts getting old and stops being true (The phrase "Labs has tested..." became pretty much meaningless). Just focus at one thing at a time. Correct video procedures, testing procedures, instead of making a thousand new things at once. How can you trust in new things being good when old things are broken?

I think that GN did an excellent journalistic job and brought up something that a non-insignificant amount of the community was thinking but didn't have a medium to speak out (and making a forum thread by some rando' wouldn't be it). Putting aside his personal relationships and speaking what he believes in is IMHO a mark of a true journalist.

As I said in my previous post in the thread - I'll still be watching LTT but at the same time I want it to be the best version of itself. That's probably a lot to take in but everything that's being said is valid and should be evaluated.

Linus, you need to let go off your fragile ego and understand what the entire point of GN's video was. They are highlighting that LMG and LTT are going down a slippery slope to becoming a mass content creation money manufacturer. Then your entire response is just trying to deflect from the Monoblock situation

GN's video is the constructive criticism. Linus replied here saying that GN shouldn't have published it and they should've kept that private LOL. And he strongly implied that GN acted in bad faith.

Show me where GN was inaccurate. Linus was using weasel words to try to get around the fact that even if it was a charity auction, it wasn’t his to auction.

Steve doesn’t owe you anything. Implying that this is unfair or not journalistically proper because he didn’t contact you before publishing an expose is absurd. If they wanted your take, they should have reached out after publication. You own a large company, and people rely on the information you provide. Sometimes that means you will get taken to task publicly for a screw up. Stop whining, show some integrity and just admit you f-ed up and need to do better. End of story.

Their story was about the videos, the videos are already out in the wild, the information is already out there... they did a piece on the videos, videos that are still online... They have no duty to ask you for your comments, they have no duty to ask for you to influence their findings, they have no duty to you at all... At best, they could have asked you to provide comments on what they were going to report, and they would then be able to choose to publish those responses or not. But, youtube, as the ability built in for you to provide comment on their reporting.

Either way, the Linus "im right, everyone else is wrong" attitude, isnt going to help make LTT, or Labs, more accurate. The common thread to all the problems here is you. I like LTT, i like you, but you are coming across as the type of person who wont accept that they are falable and are completely incapable of admitting to your mistakes.

You have a choice, be a genuinely trusted media outlet for tech... Or be the "Top Gear" of tech and just be a bunch of clowns who make funny videos tangentially related to tech.

Not that ive found, or seen in general when i was in that world, or when ive had stories written about companies that ive worked with/for... If you are writing a story about someone/something, if you already have all the information, the most you would do is ask for comment... but youtube has a comment system built in, Linus has the option of making a video to produce a reply to all of this... but hes chosen instead to claim that he is right, and everyone else is wrong

You're putting out content that some people are going to use for large purchases. If your reviews are inaccurate, then they have much less value.

You need to be thorough and accurate, especially in benchmarks.

When errors are found, there needs to be an injection of voiceover during post.

All that energy, and money, you're pumping into the labs project is going to be for naught if your accuracy isn't there.

Start slowing down on the content, and do more checking. Steve raised a lot of valid points, I think you should look internally at processes to improve everything.

You shouldn't have accepted the review if you weren't going to at least commit to doing it right. If you weren't comfortable with the expense of doing it right, then you should have declined.

If legitimate criticism of how a company's testing methodology resulting in errors is considered an attack, then I'm not sure what else to say besides it not being one.

Here's the thing, if you want to be a lab, and you want to be held to lab standards, then you open your methods and data to scrutiny, which is what GN is doing here. LMG has the ability, and the right to respond to these allegations by re-running the tests to reproduce the data if they want to stand by it, but they aren't. GN's video isn't an attack, it's a flashlight on some of LMG's recent practices that have dubious ethical standings that need to be addressed.

Once a topic/post gets somewhere around 30-50+ replies then I prefer Reddit's grouping style.
I find that style works much better for topics that have a large number of replies.

This makes me sad because I have been watching LTT for over 10 years as well. I was really looking forward to moving my home here.

Seems like the community here doesn't want any new comers. I hope this changes, because I know Linus himself would love to offer this as a new home to people to find their community as a replacement to reddit.

You have no idea what the people behind this walk out/protest are going through... and whats important to them.

Thats my point about not judging the priorities of the people who are behind this. The people who were on reddit have gone through things just like you, I've been on AMA's with people dealing horrifying things, things you can't even imagine, but they felt this protest was important and they walked away. These are folks who feel Reddit saved their lives. they will tell you they found a community, dealt with things that most of us will never have to go through...  Who are you to tell them what is and isn't important in their lives?

You can feel however you want to feel. But let people make their judgements on what is important to them, and don't act like you know what they are dealing with and how they should respond.

You don't know them...and if it's important to them, people have every right to protest in whatever legal way is available to them.

In what world, is striking "child like"?

They(subreddit mods) tried to reasonably work with them(Reddit CEO), but demands were unmet, the only reasonable and correct action from there IS to strike. Striking is not childlike, your workers/volunteers asked for specific workplace conditions (like mod tools that rely on API calls) to not make them broke when Reddit is telling them the subreddits must be moderated). And the Boss was unwilling to meet those conditions or meet them half way, in fact your boss instead LIES about his interactions with people who build tools based off of the API.

calling a strike childlike is just unhinged Pinkerton behavior.

Like any and all strikes, this strike will hurt all sides, but the point is solidarity and to make it hurt the C-suite more. Nuking the income for 2 days in a row is not insignificant.

Their API is going to block the usage of 3rd party apps and bots/moderation tools, so this will worsen the experience for many users.
The whole point of those API changes is to make reddit more profitable for a possible IPO. If they do something that makes them lose users, which will directly impact on their AD revenue, then the chances of a successful IPO decrease.
Much like any strike or protest, it does make it hard for some other users. If it didn't cause any impact, it wouldn't mean much.
The API changes also inconvenience many users, that's the point.
If nothing changes after those 48 hours, it does show that reddit doesn't care, and many users (specially mods) will leave the platform, making it so that the quality of many subreddits will decrease and more users will leave the platform.

I'm getting frustrated with this Chevy Traverse. Intermittent no start no crank. Comes in, acting up, start looking at it, fixes itself and won't be broken again so I let it go. Comes back about a week later same thing, no comms with a bunch of highspeed lan modules then it magically starts working again. Few days and a week go by, go to pull it in last night no start. Finally! It's the end of the day but fuck it I'm getting a look at the bus. Bus is fucked, CANH is up at 4 volts with random dips to almost 2 volts. CANL is at 1.5 volts with coinciding jumps to almost 3 volts. Log some data, go home, this morning push it in to look at cause high of 45F today and it's in the shadow side of the building. The car has the AUDACITY to start again now, normal data bus.
