If i could explain in laymans terms what higher resolution does i will, but it drastically increases framerate response times. you can have your 144fps and it would still look worse to a competitive players eyes because there will be around a 20-30 ms difference between response and draw times. There needs to be greater focus on efficient code and proper resource allocation. Just 6 months ago people finally learned how to reduce gpu workload through excessive shadowing. I.e. double and triple calculated shadows/rays because of inefficient code and execution.
