  1. I feel like there are things that should stay the way they have been for a while. They are brutally pushing the control panel out of the way, while not really bringing a good replacement. On top of that, it is sloooow. We have old dual core stations at work which work wonderfully with Windows 7. Windows 10 runs quite badly on these devices because of the smart graphics it would seem. Also, I do have a laptop with it. Love the design, would not go to Windows 7, but COME ON. It takes a solid 5 seconds before the log in screen registers anything, on a decently powerful laptop from 2017? It is quite sluggish, and I know they can do better. Searching for e.g. the CMD in Windows 10 search, pressing enter. At times it hangs itself, giving me plenty of time to just bypass the search, use Win+R and type CMD, voila it is up before I know it, waiting a solid 2 minutes for Windows to get its crap together to launch it through the search. Clearly something is wrong with the OS, and they just aren't ironing these basic issues out. /rant TLDR: Windows 10 elements are super slow and resource intensive, no likey. Would not go back to Win7 though.
  2. I get where you come from You got really unlucky with your phone At work we use Samsung Galaxy S8's. Out of the handful of people that have these, one of them has exactly what you describe. Plug falls out, you have to wiggle it etc. In general they are really nice and tight like any other USB port.
  3. I have a different model, the Freedoms. Noteworthy bad things to say: Hissing sound at low volume levels (white noise, etc.), fit is hit and miss. One day I can wear them for 8 hours, another I can't live with them for 30 minutes. But they are by far the best IEM's I have listened to (and also the most expensive. Then again, I come from cheapo Sennheiser C300II's, so I expected that. I quite like the equalizer feature, but it lacks basic things, such as password locking the device (so people don't **** connect and it yells "HEADPHOOOONESSSSS CONNECTED" while killing my eardrums) and disabling certain "hot keys" - I call my coworkers 2-3 times a week by mistake, because I apparently doubleclicked the pause button.
  4. Ok, thanks to all of you for helping me, I did not know I could not get away with just a DAC. Q: What headphones? A: Currently, Sennheiser g4me ones, apparently based on HD598/558 drivers, so not so much gaming headset, but I plan on picking up either a HD6xx or a DT 990 Pro through work. I had looked at the Fulla, but by reviews it does not seem to be all that great, both build and a little bit sound quality. I will keep looking, especially at the sticky that was pointed out, thanks for now.
  5. Hi there! I was looking at improving my audio as I listen to music and podcasts alot (both at work and at home). I was under the impression that a DAC is where the "quality" comes from and the AMP is just what amplifies the power, so if you already have enough power you don't need one? But then I looked at the Schiit Modi 2, and it seemingly has no headphone-out, how come? My budget is £125 (EU), so if you have other suggestions, they are welcome.
  6. I do not think I was clear, what I meant by downgrading my build is, the Windows build - the version of Windows
  7. Hello community, Ever since I upgraded to the latest build of Windows, I have had issues with watching videos, talking on Skype and so on in the background, while playing games. It is lagging, all of the GPU power goes to the game, where it usually would just drop a few frames in the game (which is fine cause it is usually running a bit too high FPS anyways). It has been going on since the Windows build 16232.1000 - I have updated drivers and BIOS, and that is about it. I do not wish to downgrade my Windows (roll back the update) or to play borderless windowed, so I am just wondering how other people solve it? It seems some think it has to do with Flash Player - I am on the latest version though. Thanks in advance
  8. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Q2GTRG $200 over budget, but a solid setup, with most of your previous choices
  9. The Inspiron and XPS models are rather nice. We have a few of them at work, and they have a quality feel, without being that heavy. The Yoga, I have had a personal bad experience with their trackpads, both the Thinkpad and the consumer model. The bottom .5cm doesn't register mouse clicks for whatever reason (physical click). I ended up ditching it due to this, but then again I have quite small hands, so this might not be an issue for you. Other than that, the Yoga had a nice feel to it as well, and a really nice screen once calibrated. If I was to put my own money on a new laptop, I'd get the Inspiron. You get a lot for your money, and you can always calibrate a screen. The XPS is a bit too much for my own pocket money, but I'd gladly take it if it was my work computer If I got over the trackpad issue I personally had with the 710, that is a really cool concept and I could see myself spending the extra dough. I like the idea of having a massive tablet in bed etc.
  10. Your bank if it goes wrong. As mentioned in a few posts before this one, it'll be more safe just to do a cut-out in the case rather than the GPU.
  11. Does anyone know of a JLab distributor in the EU? If I were to order them from the US, I would pay approximately 50% more for the product, and $150 for getting it shipped. Just wondering if it can be true, that they only sell in USA.
  12. I guess you can say I am adding salt to the optimization wound, above 50% CPU usage in the menu, and half a minute load time to enter customization. Could be true that Multiplayer needs slightly more RAM, I just haven't seen it myself. RAM sits safely at 70-80% utilization on Sinai Desert. It would make sense though, assuming LTT uses Singleplayer to benchmark their games (for more consistency)
  13. Did a bit more reading, seems a newer version of the PWM D5 is better at being controlled.
  14. When the game works, it is a lot of fun. I thought I was done with FPS games, but my friends were set on getting this. I have enjoyed the game a bit even without playing with friends. Some things just seem inconsistent, perhaps I just don't read enough about "features". E.G. sniping, bullets consistently drop a bit down and to the left... Down I understand, but left?
  15. I have never during this systems two year lifespan had issues with too little RAM, I have monitored it during BF1 as well...
  16. I am looking for a tiny pump/res combo, and this seems to fit my needs. However, I'd like the ability to control the pump RPM by steps, as the DC model. By the looks of it, EK recommends these things for the full combo: Res (XRES 100) Pump (D5 Vario DC) Mounting Bracket What I do not understand, is how do I couple the pump to the reservoir, it looks like it has some rubber/plastic mount that comes with none of these. So does it require an extra part or something?
  17. Glad I'm not the only one... So far I have not seen any games that I cannot run, would be a shame if Battlefield would kill my system. I see you ran low settings. Lower settings did nothing to my framerate, almost as if it was a CPU bottleneck. I really enjoy having videos running in the background of my games, something I am not able to do in BF1 unfortunately. Sinai Desert is really intensive, yet not that graphically impressive.
  18. I recently picked up BF1 and have enjoyed it so far, but it seems really stuttery and unsmooth at times, as if it was in Beta still. Just wondering, how have people enjoyed the new Battlefield so far? Because it seems they really took some stupid decisions. You want to customize loadout? Let me take two minutes loading it. You want to leave the server? Let me punish you with a 5 minute wait time. This is on an SSD, and is completely unacceptable. And just in general in game, CPU usage for an I7 is ~70%. I would be fine, but whenever I peak 100%, the game completely freezes. Unacceptable, never seen this in any other game. How about the Origin overlay - pretty much required for playing with friends. Well, that is completely broken, but still takes 5% CPU usage while in games. It seems they somehow rushed Battlefield 1, with really bad balance, optimization and all, however this might just be me.
  19. Anker is a solid brand, comes in various different sizes. I regret getting the massive 20100 mAh one, I think the 3350 should be enough? https://www.anker.com/products/A1104011
  20. Wait, so Air Pods aren't released yet? I work in IT, I regularly pick up phones for the users and recently got my hands on an iPhone 7... It came with the AirPods. So are they out or not, that is the question.
  21. Geez, where are you from? Usually around here, as soon as they find out you lie about a minor thing, they don't trust you, and fire you immediately. They know what they want, sooner or later they are going to find out you lied. To OP: Codecademy is great, Lynda.com tutorial is definitely recommended, since I started working in IT I have picked up skills like mad from courses, although I don't do programming. Lynda is very focused, you know exactly what you are going to learn with little to no "small talk" in the videos. I have also tried Pluralsight, basically Lynda but not Lynda. Give it a shot, again, it doesn't hurt to get a free trial.
  22. Captain here, one of these maybe? http://www.gsmarena.com/sharp-phones-23.php *flies away*
  23. My unpopular opinion: Mechanical keyboards are a gimmick Reason, some of the standard Dell and HP keyboards are so damn good, the feedback is excellent
