  1. Anyone recommend an alternative to Altwork Signature Station? This thing looks amazing but it's $8,000. I really want a multi mode office chair (recline, firm upright position, etc) with built in keyboard stand. Is it generally accepted that recliner types don't offer the support for long hour upright work mode?
  2. Oh I see. I guess I was just thinking that since I still have to run some games at medium settings that adding that 2nd monitor would really slow it down. I didn't realize that a 2nd card could have the opposite effect of increased load like that, I thought it would divert some of the load
  3. Hi all, This might be a dumb question or one whose answer is right in front of me. But I want to use my old video card to run a monitor from my pc to a smaller display that would sit on the end table next to my couch, with my newer nicer card driving my games on the big TV across the room. I would have strategy guides/forums/etc open on that smaller display I could pull up if I needed to look something up for the game. So the TV using my newer nicer video card, the smaller display utilizing my older card. I don't like the idea of extending the display between these two. Although to be fair I've never done dual gpu/dual monitor so I don't know if that works quite the same. Ideally I'd just have like a hotkey on my mouse that switches the output of my mouse and keyboard to the other display. If they make a switch type peripheral for this? Because that would feel most seamless to me Of course the other idea is just plugging in my chromebook to the smaller display, but I'd like to just utilize the one keyboard and mouse. Running both displays off the newer card I think would put too much load on it. It's a big 4k tv and then the smaller 22 inch high-ish refresh rate monitor Is extending displays in a dual gpu/dual monitor situation seamless and low workload?
  4. Oh cool! Makes me want to shoot for it as a goal even more. I think with the workload I’ll be putting on it I can squeak by with pretty low noise regarding any other fans. When you use these shaders and stuff for emulators it really cranks up the workload from what I’ve experienced so that fanless feature would be nice
  5. Ooo I like that bright orange Cooler Master NR200. That MASTERCASE H100 ARGB is pretty cool too, I might be learning towards something more like that. The card I have is already pretty old, bought it used when the market dipped low enough just so I had something newer than my 2012 era card. So I'm open for sure to something like the sapphire card. I don't think I've even seen a fanless PSU before, will definitely look into that
  6. Good point! When I was looking for it it was unavailable/sold out everywhere and that's when I realized how old it was. Didn't notice the dvd drive, etc, definitely don't need extra bays worth of stuff. I think that's actually the error that PCPartPicker was giving me, that the card would block one of the bays in the case. But yeah, I'm definitely open to different cases, that Node 304 is nice, I love the cube design which definitely is what I want to stick with. Any cool neon green cube shaped case I can find really! (high on the list of priorities :p) I like the idea of a different card, the RX 580 is a little bit of a monster in terms of iTX, so I am open to as quiet and as small of a card as possible. Would definitely like it to be as silent as possible of a machine
  7. Hi all, Budget (including currency): $500 Country: United States Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Max settings for 2017 and earlier games (because going to play modern AAA titles on PS5); PS2 era and earlier emulation When: Within 6 months Existing parts: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory MSI Radeon RX 580 4 GB ARMOR OC Video Card EVGA 550 B5, 80 Plus BRONZE 550W, Fully Modular BitFenix Prodigy Mini ITX Tower Case Going to buy: Gigabyte B550I AORUS PRO AX Mini ITX AM4 Motherboard Possible upgrade: Switch out existing PSU for: EVGA SuperNOVA GM 450 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular Aim: Eventually I am going to cannibalize my mATX build for an mITX build because I like the portability/space saving of smaller builds (although I've never built one before). Going to be used for 2017 and earlier pc gaming at max settings (because I will be playing modern AAA titles on PS5). I also want to emulate PS2 era titles and earlier with shaders. Monitors/peripherals: 1080p monitor, wireless keyboard and mouse, wired headset Thank you for any tips or insight you can give!
  8. Budget (including currency): $600 - $1,000 Country: U.S. Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Some relatively newer strategy games, indie games, and occasionally modern triple AAA open world RPG's (probably not with maxed out settings). But I am also enjoying my backlog of games going back to 2015-2017-ish. I won't be doing any streaming, photo/video editing, etc Other details This build brought to you by a PC Part Picker build guide (Great Intel Gaming Build) with some modifications: I have 16GB of DDR3 RAM I'd like to hold onto. The build included is a DDR4 mobo. Do you recommend a newer DDR3 supporting mobo? I will be using my pre-existing RX 580 4GB for a couple of more years I would like to salvage my Cooler Master Hyper Evo 212. With that said, I wouldn't mind keeping the door open to liquid cooling in the future, strictly for the purpose that I am tired of loud fans. I have no experience with liquid cooling though. I don't like RGB setups which the build guide includes for the case if you can recommend another case Will be displaying on a large 4k TV Not super educated on refresh rate Ready to buy components right away Here is the build. Thank you for your help!: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/NwHwk9
  9. That was really another consideration is if there would be any major advantage to an i7 3770k. It's the cooling and loud fan speeds that are annoying me with my current processor. So maybe a revamped case/cooling situation might be a better focus. Ideally I'd like to make this machine on par with like a 2017 mid tier gaming machine. The thing about my current processor is that I don't oc it at all because of the loud fan speeds so maybe that might be a good focus. Improving case/cooling situation I wonder how much of a gamble it would be to put a 4th or 5th gen processor onto my board knowing it's not rated beyond 3rd gen. I wonder how often that risk fails for people
  10. Hi all, The only bottleneck really right now in my older machine is the processor. I'm not super familiar with picking out processors, would something like a 3rd gen Xeon be good as long as it had 1155 socket? I say 3rd gen because apparently my mobo can only handle 3rd gen intel processors (my parts list in my signature). I am going to start a brand new build in a few months, so this is just a project to tide me over. So any thoughts on best processor I can put in my old machine? Thanks
