    1903 UPDATE ISSUE!

You're mixing Dual Channel and Dual Data Rate. Two completely different things. Dual Data Rate means transferring data on the rising and falling edge of the clock signal. Dual Channel just means that the memory controller has 2 channels to access 2 sets of memory banks for double throughput.

Setting up a router's wireless to act as an Access Point.

I was going to run 2 to each room, one for the access point and 1 for the switch. or if I did routers following this tutorial https://www.savjee.be/2012/10/creating-one-WiFi-network-with-multiple-access-points/. 1 for a router ( wifi and ethernet for secondary devices like Xbox, server, and others) and 1 for a direct connect to the main router using the main device aka my PC.
  7. Thanks for the suggestion! I might have to go that route if that really is the best option. I'm more worried about the BIOS and other lower level software being compromised than windows itself. As of now I'm looking at the LG Gram, which is looking really promsing so far. Do laptops with thunderbolt 3 innately have the ability to use external graphics or is there more to it?

    motherboard upgrade help?

well... for that money you can get my current favourite am4 board, the taichi but even a b450/ab350/x370 pro4 would be a huge improvement

  10. @jonnyGURU What are your thoughts on referring to the most recent RMx series as "RMx (2018)"? Just curious if you have another preference for distinguishing that model from the older RMx series. RMx (2018) is how it's described in the product title on the Corsair website.

  12. I am building a deep learning computer and am choosing the parts. Is it possible to have a computer with rtx 2080 ti under 1500? Minimum specs: 16-32 GB ram Intel 8gen cpu Case any PSU enough is ok RGB not needed Quiet system If it is not possible, is it possible to build a pc with rtx 2080 instead but with 1200 budget? Thank you
  13. What's with that LUKS+dm_crypt thing being a factor? Is that like something one has on by default or is it something people install/enable explicitly?
  14. And there is no distinction that Huawei is what you just said, where do you think those insinuations come from? When you have former CIA heads, Micheal Hayden specifically, saying after reading briefing documentation not proving any of these claims that god did not make enough briefing slides to convince him otherwise then that is a dead end to ever finding or telling the truth. What's changed is everyone noticed Huawei is or would be the largest global telecommunications provider and many don't like that. No one gave a damn when they didn't notice that. So far there has been a US tech company lurking in the background of every sanction and proposed legislation. Patent infringement or not if you're the creator of the technology and you're incapable of making a superior product then that falls on yourselves. They have every right to fight the legal side of it as much as they like but if you're not doing better on the product side that rightly looks pretty poor. When you have to spit shine 4G and call it 5GE then you failed, badly. Edit: And there are former intelligence members in US tech companies and people from the companies go on to work for intelligence agencies. Tech sector is one of the most inbred sectors there is, it's why you never burn bridges and reputation matters so much.

Crashing because of a bad hdd?

UPDATE. Bought a 480gb kingston a400 and changed my gpu to a slightly better one. Then it started to shut down while gaming instead of crashing and my cpu is at 60°C in the bios. Comes out my front glass panel restricts the airflow so badly even with holes for it that my system just overheats. I removed the glass panel and the temps dropped aprox. 15°C. Whew Now, I have a faster system (never going back to harddrives) that runs at a max 60°C while the gpu and the cpu are at 100%. The system hasn't crashed since. Another thing I found out is that the heat could have damaged my temp sensor in my cpu. Aircooled 7°C isn't normal

  21. Enterprise users who actually pay for this are unlikely to get a new kernel so soon after its release. Everyone else can get it for free. I'm sorry, it's not even comparable to asking 100$ for a copy of Windows "home". Who is or isn't considered a "supporter" of the Linux foundation is completely irrelevant in this context. They did, it was only confirmed to be a kernel bug by RH. Linux is hardly a "less popular" open source project. In fact I'm pretty sure it's the single biggest foss endeavor. Also again, if you get a product for free I think the contributors deserve more of a break. If the product is sold to some people, let those people complain to the firm that sold it to them. Besides, we know very well that paid products are by no means guaranteed to be beyond beta stage on release. Nah, there have been far more serious issues on Windows that affected a lot more users. The bug with 1809 didn't require any special configuration, it was just a coin toss on whether you would lose all your data or not. I get that yours was meant as a joke but I think you're taking a jab at the wrong thing. To be clear, Linux systems obviously have bugs and it's perfectly reasonable to urge the developers to fix critical issues (which usually happens in less than a day after they are reported) - I don't think there's a double standard here as you were suggesting. Nobody is trying to downplay this, it's obviously an issue and it should be fixed as soon as possible.

    What country and budget
  23. The Taichi is ok but I just prefer Gigabyte for Z390 as you can't really go wrong with any of those VRM's. The Z390 Aorus Ultra looks to be currently $50 cheaper than the Master so I would go with that for a higher end offering. Also Buildzoid did a teardown of the Z390 Taichi Ultimate and he didn't seem overly impressed with the VRM efficiency. The rest of that spec looks fine though.
