Day 5 - Finale!

Hello everyone! The 2025 September Midweek Madness has now come to a close. The event went by so fast! The ranks and prizes are finalized and I'm sure you are excited to see them. As I write today, I'm listening to Rick Springfield's new show on SiriusXM, but that's enough about me.

In total, the team produced 2,595,750,657 points and 6,204 work units in just five days!

Now let's see who made in into the top ten leader board. Please note that the leader board ranks include the final day multiplier.

🥇 In first place is Shlouski! Shlouski folded 531,637,484 points and 654 work units during the event claiming the throne.

🥈 In second place is miker07, who managed to grab the rank at the last minute. He claims the rank with 448,463,485 points and 466 work units.

🥉 Rounding out our podium we have Sequence211 with 374,984,092 points and 379 work units folded.

In fourth is Mxyzptlk with 218,633,191 points and 449 work units folded. Mxyzptlk was able to keep it steady in fourth for most of the event. Very impressive.

In fifth is pyrosrock with a total of 174,012,488 points and 588 work units. This looks to be pyrosrock's first folding event! I must say, this is certainly a great first showing.

In sixth is CWallenberg with 137,945,831 points and 149 work units. CWallenberg looks to be the first to to fold with a 5090 during a folding event. Folding month is going to be interesting with all the new 50 series cards finally in the hands of folding fanatics.

In seventh is Favebook with 123,541,445 points and 161 work units. Favebook always seems to be ready to show us how its done!

In eighth is Chachunka with 106,784,515 points and 165 work units. This certainly isn't the first time Chachunka has found themselves on the board.

In ninth is MrFinn741 with 102,435,305 points and 197 work units. I thought I had a shot competing with Mr. Finn but he completely left me in the dust!

And last but not least is our honorable gatekeeper Dr. Will0hlep, with 99,633,964 points and 192 work units. So close to reaching 100k!

Now of course, the other exciting part. PRIZES!

Ten mystery Steam keys are on the table. Let's find out who the winner are! The Google random number generator will give us the answer! Let's give it a spin. Our first big winner is number sixteen @ShadowChaser! The next winner is number one @Shlouski! The next winner is number seventeen, @TVwazhere! Number six is our next winner. That's @CWallenberg! Our next winner is number twelve, @Oestle@Average Nerd is the next winner in twenty fifth! @Kazi is our seventh winner and is in eleventh! Our eighth winner is number twenty two, which is @Lurick! The ninth winner is number five which is @pyrosrock! Last but not least, the final winner is @K1N5L4Y3R!

Earlier this week I gave the team a challenge. Whoever gained the most ranks within the next 24 hours would win a $25 US LTTstore gift card as long as they qualified. Quite impressively, we had a four way tie! Dr. Will0hlep, Kazi, cheapasian, and TVwazhere all gained four ranks. That leaves the winner up to Google's random number generator! It's spinning... spinning.... The winner is @Dr. Will0hlep! First you kick me out of tenth place then you rob me of my gift card?! 😂

Congratulation to all of the winners!

To claim your prize, please send me DM via the forum messenger with the subject, "Give me my prize!" within the next week. This will surely strike fear into my soul, thus forcing me to give away my precious prizes. All unclaimed prizes will be saved for future events.

In the grand scheme of things, this was only a warm up lap for the marathon that is the annual folding month in November. I'm excited to see what the team is capable of folding when the event runs for 35 days! Now that everyone has shaken the cobwebs out of their systems, the next stage of preparations begin! A lot can change in a little over a month. The thread for Folding Month VIII is now up! Be sure to sign up!

In all honesty, I never planned on leading any folding events, but when Spec stepped down, I realized that someone had to lead the events and keep the fun going until the mods decide upon a new leader. I'd like to thank @Dr. Will0hlep for setting up our spreadsheets and @cbigfoot for grabbing all of the stats! I'd also like thank @HoldSquat and @Lightwreather for helping with validating signups and other issues that came up. This event wouldn't be possible without you! Last but not least, THANK YOU!!! I'm so proud to see a community of people rallying around donating compute for science! I hope everyone had a great time and will be back for folding month.

I find the final results interesting, showing some rather wild swings in WU count up and down as you go up and down the list.  Tells me that the WUs really aren't worth the same based on time computed, but also aren't horrific in that regard when taken over time, but some hardware must be more prone to get longer vs smaller WUs.  I would've thought I'd be on the longer WU train with a 3080, but guess not.
