Yesterday, I was glad to find that the Arma 3 Takistan Life server was back online. If you didn't know, last time I played on this server was July 2014, so I was quite overjoyed at this.
Suddenly, a hacker (read: script kiddie) joins the server promising that he will give out free money to all civilians. I had to question my own morality at that point, but I ended up asking for an absurd amount of money somewhat sarcastically. To my surprise, there was 999 billion dollars in my bank.
WHAT. THE

It's not often that you see tech companies care for so long. But when it comes to gaming, ASUS takes things seriously. "Republic of Gamers" (ROG) is their gaming-focused sub brand that provides the enthusiast with gaming motherboards, graphics cards, headsets and so on. There's even a backpack available for your ROG notebook.
And their enthusiasm is not limited to present-day technologies. Today, ASUS revealed their new ROG IDE cables.
John Trent, ROG representative, tells us: "We want
Hey!
I am completely new to computer building. In fact, a week ago I didn't know anything about most hardware you find around, let alone all of what seemed to be a complicated sight inside my old towers, ha ha. Given my disclaimer, please bear with me and my ignorence. I am trying to learn all I can as fast as possible! But, of course, I am left with some questions and ineptitudes.
My hope is that those with experience might answer a couple of my questions as well as look at the components I h

Hey everyone.
I'm new to the forums, blogging and Linus' website. I was I guess you could say a 'Virgin' PC builder till a few months ago. I have my PC fully built now, just barebones really. I bought everything I would need to get up and running; I'll list specs below somewhere. I have my eyes on a few things I would like to get, but I thought I'd ask some people who have been in the game a bit longer than me for some help or advice in what to get next, heres what I have so far:

What a galactic move! As of today, Korean consumer electronics manufacturer Samsung has started to pay AdBlock Plus (ABP) for blocking Microsoft ads. This is an answer to Microsoft themselves paying ABP to have their ads unblocked, which was the reason for Microsoft ads surfacing even when your AdBlock was active.
No word has been received from Microsoft. Rumor has it though that they are considering additional payments to ABP as well as integrated Microsoft ads in their new Spartan browser.

Working In The Industry:
You'll find that sometimes you will need software that your client doesn't have installed, in cases where getting access to the internet is not possible this can be a real nightmare. So to prevent this, it helps to carry just about every utility you can with you ether on a USB thumb stick or a CD. Personally, I have two folders that contain portable software and software to be installed. The former contains several small programs for monitoring and testing that can be t

Not quite, I am yet to do the Grid2 Benchmark but I can talk about the general use of the cards. Before modding, the reference card was extremely loud, as you can imagine, whereas the Tri-X cooler stayed almost silent. After this mod, I found that while the total noise for both cards has been reduced, the single 120mm fan is having to work harder that the three 80mms on the Tri-X. So it's louder post mod unfortunately. On the bright side though, the card runs at the sa

Whats Going On?:
Almost as soon as I started mocking up the layout of the drawer, I found that the total thickness would be too much for an under desk drawer. Moreover, the width and height of the case would bee too much to fit, practically, on my desk. With careful consideration to the style of both my office and the PC, I am going to be swapping over to a PC on the wall. However, I will still be building a PC into a drawer. I plan to sue older 939 socket era hardware and some passive cooling
Things Changing:
I was in the process of mocking up the layout of the drawer PC build, Smokey Attempts: PC In A Drawer, and I realized that the mechanisms I need to implement that will allow the drawer to be extended without disconnecting wires will add upwards of 5cm to the total height of the drawer. A total of around 19cm is too much to fit under the desk. In addition, the width and depth of the mock up will have it too large to be a practical desktop. Unless I sacrifice looks for function.
