Thoughts about SanDisk SSD Plus?

I have to choose between buying a 1TB HDD or a 240 GB SSD. Capacity is not really an issue, 1TB would be overkill for me but for the same price I can buy one and not worry about it for years.

Has anyone here tried it or can give an opinion about it? My main concern is durability, since all the things I've been reading on the internet are telling me SSDs do not live that long, and I surely can't just buy a new drive every few months

 

As I said, this is my only choice because I can't afford better SSDs here in my country. So it's a 1TB WD Blue HD or that SanDisk SSD.

No that SSD is very good and SSD normally have a longer life span than HDD but if you can find a Samsung one then thats even better but they are both amazing

No SSD in the market now will last shorter than a regular HDD.  I've had my 2nd hand Intel X-25M G2 from 6 years ago and it's not even 10% through it's life span yet.

I have it. Works amazing. about 520 MB/s read and 180 MB/s write. Fast response time. About 10 second boot.

It's a good SSD. 

 

Modern SSDs actually have a longer life than HDDs normally, unless you're writing to it all the time.

Sorry, thread hijack, but does 180 MB write speed mean that if I copied a file to it, it would copy at 180 MB's?

 

Edit - Got the SSD on a deal for £39.99 without checking here first, good to know it's good.

Thanks fr the answers. I'm glad to hear it's a good drive. I have a question though, what is considered writing on the disk? Because since I will be using the SSD as my main and only drive, by doing basic stuff like web browsing and watching videos I'm writing a lot since everything is stored in the cache. So isn't that just reducing it's lifespan really quickly?

No what happens is with a physical HDD there is a needle that moves between platters and read and writes data across them and with an SSD there are no physical moving parts, hence the name Solid State, and everything is written and read via a memory controller.

 

But to answer your question no you will be fine, for your use it will last ALOT longer than a HDD and no you won't degrade the performance, enjoy the SSD speeds!
