R9 390 for 2560x1080 60fps?

Should be no problem for those games, I sometime play my games at 1440p60fps which have more pixels than 1080p wide.

Hey everyone!

 

So, I'll get straight to it. I'm looking into getting an ultrawide monitor, the LG 29UM57-P. It looks great for my needs, but I have one question: how well do you think my R9 390 will handle 2560x1080? I play Battlefront, Euro Truck Sim, Besiege, BeamNG.Drive and Elite: Dangerous. It's supposed to be just 30% more pixels than 1080p (what I currently game on) so I just want other opinions as to how well my existing GPU will run these games at this res at 2560x1080.

Also: to those with ultrawides: how do you feel about them? I game and work at about a 70-30 ratio, how well does it work for games (immersion, etc.) and productivity (two big windows side by side, etc.)?

I have a 21:9 Asus XM299Q and it is fucking incredible for playing games.

 

Your 390 will be able to crush anygame on that res.

It does have the edge over the 970 for 1440p. But maybe not at max settings + AA.

Hey everyone!

I would pick 390X just to be safe on that framerate 

 

I know this link is to Nvidia's website but if your going for a 390 a 970 is really comparable

How is the 1080p? And to what 16:9 diagonal size is a 29" 21:9 similar to? 24"?

But surely 2560 horizontal pixels is perfectly sufficient for the width of a 29 inch screen?

It is totally fine.

But 1080 (1920X1080) across the 29 inches doesn't look so nice.

The ppi won't change because of this.

Unless you want to stretch 1920x1080 on the aspect ratio, but why would one do that in the first place.

That is what I mean, sometimes you have too for some certain games.

If you take enough time to earn the money for some 21:9 monitor you should spend a few minutes tweaking a few files to have Skyrim run at 21:9.

Heck there even programs and whole communities for to do it in a blink.
