Sapphire 280x Vapor-x

vazquezjonathan7

New egg says 750 but that's playing it very safe. I run a Vapor-x R9 290 with a Corsair RM750 and the fan never comes on even durring benchmarking and heavy gaming. Which Corsair says comes on at a 40% load.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Yeah that's what I thought. What do you think would be sufficient enough for it to run without frying my psu

That's why I went with the gold rated 750. I don't have to worry about the card not getting power and since the fan only comes on when loaded even though I'm not running the Power supply where its the most efficient the loss isn't that bad. Plus if I ever decide to get a second card I'm OK on power. Linus talks about it in his power supply buying guide.

A decent 550w is more than enough. The recommended wattage on the graphics card website is almost always drastically inflated.
