SPLIT OUTGOING AND INCOMING CONNECTIONS

Hey there everyone! In a few weeks I will be going off to boarding school and I have bought a vpn to bypass the firewalls put into place and any restrictions they have set (e.g. game servers, forums etc.). What I am trying to do is when I am using my computer for simply searching things up on google I want to use the internet from the school with the restrictions still in place (not encrypted) and when I connect to game servers I want to use a vpn software, without me having to manually go and turn the vpn on and have all the data encrypted. Reason for me doing this is I dont want to have the school block my vpn so cant use it (trying to be low profile). I spoke to my local IT guy and he told me to take a look at LogMeIn Hamachi. I am by no means an expert as you know by reading this and I hope you guys might be able to shed a little light on the situation.
