MSI motherboard warranty leniency?

Hi all

Just a quick question on your experience with the msi RMA? Are they lenient?

For 3 weeks I have been slowly getting pieces for my new build, I got the motherboard around 2 weeks ago, and finally the graphics card came in a few days back. Anyhow the motherboard was DOA. No post boot no nothing did the usual diagnostics tests and it all pointed to a faulty motherboard. As I had a 12 month warranty from the store I bought it from ( PLE computers) I returned it to them only to them tell me they can't exchange it as there was a minor scratch near the pcie 2 slot on the motherboard (less than 5 mm) hardly even notice it unless you have the right lighting. it looked to be a light one as i did not see any copper. But that was enough for him to tell me that he could not swap it out till he can be assured that it hasn't voided the msi warranty. I sure as hell wasn't even using that slot when i was building the computer, but naturally the company just to save money will blame the consumer for the scratch.

What are my chances that it hasn't voided the warranty?

Thanks

I'd take it back to PLE they're pretty good; did that with my H110i GT

afaik warranties are handled by the vendor, not the manufacturer directly.

If you can contact MSI support and ask them for guidance, you might have a chance

I did take it back to ple but after they inspected it they found that small scratch which I was oblivious to. They sent it off to the manufacturer or vendor to better determine if it's still under warranty. I got to wait a week or 2 for a response

Yeah I was thinking of doing that. Just don't want to jeopardize the chances of them saying that it's still under warranty. How would you go about it?
