Best way to stream

I have a windows 8.1 PC and laptop, is there a way or whats the best way for me to watch movies on my laptop in my room from the videos i have on my main pc

I believe you can use VLC media player to do this , Luke make a video on the LTT channel on how

The easiest way would be to share the folder the videos are in with a network share, then from the laptop you navigate it just like a NAS (you can even map it as a network drive) then double click the file and play in your player of choice. I would set up your desktop PC with a static IP address in your router if you are going to map it as a network drive.
