SSD isnt detecting

So I've got a 256 gb evo for games, started my computer up and it's gone. Doesn't show in boot or in disk management. Changed cables and the sata plug ins. Any idea what happened?

Is the SSD new?

CPU: i5 6600k OCed to 4.5Ghz @ 1.35v, GPU: R9 390 Nitro, Motherboard: Asus z170-A, CPU Cooler: H100i GTX, RAM: HyperX 2x8 16gb DDR4, PSU: Seasonic x650, Storage: 850 EVO 500gb, WD 1tb blue, Case: H440 White/Black

Can you try connected it externally?

CPU: i5-4690K @ 4.0GHz GPU: Gigabyte Gtx 970 WindForce MOBO: Gigabyte Z97 Gaming-3 CASE: Corsair Carbide 200R PSU: Corsair RM750

Did u try different sata ports as well as cables?

The SSD is maybe 1 year old. Yes I tried other cables and ports.

Probably a drive failure

Was hoping there was a fix.

 

Thats the danger of an SSD.

Traditional HDD if the head/controller board f**ks out you can get that part replaced and still read the discs. If the discs are becoming an issue you'll see performance problems as well. 

SSD's, when they die that's it. Hence, dont keep anything critical on SSD without a backup :)
