How the mighty have fallen

zappian

My take on this :

- Fix mods , simple feature or graphics , single weapons/armors and many more should be free

- DLC size mods ( Falskaar for example ) , huge armor and weapon sets ( which are plenty ) and some more should be behind a small paywall ( i'm thinking of 2-5 euro ) , BUT with option to donate .

Modders that put simple weapons and sell them for 5$ , if you want to get payed you might actually want to work a little more to get my money . Of course i might be biased in this matter because $/hour of work where i live is quite low .

If you're saying no-one is going to donate , either you haven't seen any twitch streams , or the modder isn't rewarding donations enough ( with let's say special thanks in description or in game , access to beta versions of mod updates ) .

If they wanted money so badly they should get their asses working on new games that might potentially not live up to the hype

Mods shouldn't cost at all. I'd be happy to donate either way to a good modder, but not buy them. Modding has and should always be done out of the passion someone has for developing or the game in general, with money being the very last thought when they're putting together content for a game such as Skyrim. Money has already corrupted the Skyrim modding scene in a day, and it's probably taking such a large blow that's it's going to take a while to recover.

I do hope that no one buys the next update of the SkyUI mod too. Or uses the community workshop for that matter.

Shame that Skyrim isn't all that good anyway. ;)

What do they know of England, who only England know?

;( Gaben has betrayed us! To think that he would attack Elder Scrolls! And just when I'm getting into Skyrim modding. Thank god Nexus has a lot of mods but some great mods will be only purchaseable and that sucks!

I will never look at Gaben the same way again!

Specs of my PC:

This Steam paid mods is just horrible. Not so much that you have to pay for mods, but the fact that the creator only gets 25% and they will only make a payout when the amount is above $100 total.

People really need to get off their damn high horses with the whole "They should make a donate button." "I won't buy mods, but I'll accept a donation option."

Donating to a mod creator has been possible on the Nexus for at least a year now, yet when you ask one of the bigger mod creators with +100.000 unique downloads and +50.000 endorsements, they have received maybe 100 donations total.

And our great modding community has failed miserably during all this. We pretty much mauled Chesko into quitting modding.

And he was probably the mod creator to look at, when you wanted an example of how good a mod creator could be.

He was always fast with bugfixes and his support outshined most game developers, just look at the documentation for Frostfall.

Should he have anticipated what Valve/Bethesda decision would lead to, maybe.

But it does not warrant the amount of abuse he was subjected to.
