I had no problems with my speeds to start off with, I was using a TP link wireless adapter. Then later I upgraded my router and when I tried to run speed test it was very slow, but only on my computer for some reason (all other computers ran just fine). So I decided to buy a Powerline to see if a wired connection would fix the issue, I had a lot of problems setting it up but got it working.

 

I realized that when I used wired I would get around 2mps when before I used wireless and got around 25mps. I updated all my drivers for both wireless and wired connections. Right now I'm using wired because wireless is very flakey, but both connections are now very slow and I get high ping.

 

Is there a way to "reset" all the windows connection settings to see if that will do anything?

 

Also when running wireless Windows says i'm connected to an Unidentified network.

Go and manually remove all unknown networks first, then start over. If you're getting some unknown network, you should remove it.

I think when I was setting up windows I accidentally selected public network instead of home network and I've read that it can effect it.

Back into command prompt:

 

type: netsh wlan show profiles

 

This will show all active logged networks.

To delete manually, type in: netsh wlan delete profile name=NETWORKHERE

 

Repeat until you only have ones you know what they are, i'd recommend getting rid of all and start fresh.

Login to wifi, then rerun ipconfig /release and renew

 

Also make sure someone on the network isn't crowding bandwidth.

I got the Lan and the 2.4 GHZ to work but for some reason the 5ghz doesn't work.

No, one is Hoang2 and one is Hoang5

1. Check and make sure the proper drivers for your chip are installed.

2. Double-check your antennae if you removed them.

3. Make sure your router is configured as it should be. Also, sometimes changing the MTU to manual and setting it to 1492 helps.

4. Try uninstalling and reinstalling drivers.

Are you sure that your adapter supports 5GHz?
