Are Cherry Mx Blue Switches Really Bad For FPS Gaming?

malicalik13

Hi guys! I have just gotten a sampler kit from WASD keyboards and I have loved the Blue switches. I mostly play FPS games (BF4,Insurgency,CS:GO etc.) and some people say Reds are better for FPS gaming because of the linear feel. I don't mind the sound so my only concern is are they bad for FPS gaming? I didn't like Brown switches' "bump" as much as the "click" of the Blue switches but if "click" will slow me down I can go with Brown switches too. What are your thoughts?

Clicky switches are a bit more difficult that linear, because it gets more difficult to double tap keys quickly, only really matters if you are like MLG

many people game on blues just fine though,

If you like them then buy them and use them for gaming.

Only thing about them is people say you can't double tap as well as other switches, but you're going to have a better overall experience with switches that you like as opposed to switches that people tell you to like. At least I'd think so.

Honestly, pick whatever you like. I like that I don't need to use much force on the browns, but getting used to the browns made me think of possibly switching to a blue or black. It is personal preference, and one wont nessecerily be better for fps.

The blue is a bit heavier I think, but that is about what would impact your performance(if anything will), many pro players still use blue.

If you like them, why do you care what people on the internet say? In what way could they possibly be bad if you didn't realize it by yourself? When it comes to switches people have personal preferences, but they all work just fine and if you like them, there's no reason to get a different keyboard.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

If you like blue, get blue.

I don't like them (in general) because I find the force required to get through the bump results in me bottoming out when typing. This actually wasn't an issue when gaming.

The weird thing when it came to double tapping was that the actuation reset point is lower than the bump mechanism so you can double tap but won't get the tap on the second bump unless you let it raise all the way.

I don't care for reds or blacks because the lack of any physical acknowledgement of actuation doesn't agree with me.

Thanks for the reply  :) I don't double tap so much when playing a game

Thanks for the reply :)  I'm not a pro gamer so I think blue switches won't make my gameplay worse.

Yes that's how I think about switch types too. Personal preferences are the biggest factor. But if it is going to make my gameplay worse then I can sacrifise some of my joy and go with Brown switches. Thanks for the reply  :)

I don't double tap so much. And my way to double tap with blues is pushing until I notice the click and feel. So this may cause problems. Thanks for the reply  :)

I use blues for everything on my home PC. It can be more annoying to others, especially if you have a desktop mic but its not a huge deal.

If you prefer blues I would encourage you to get them. The double tap time difference is so small that it is unlikely to make a real impact unless you are MLG kind of good.
