Should I buy an SSD?

lol@um8
Go to solution Solved by Sumsar,

Just get a cheapo 120gb ssd. It will be fine. Unless you download a lot of stuff. There's no way it is gonna perform worse than that old HDD.

Okay so yesterday my old 500 GB Seagate drive died on me and I want to buy a cheap SSD to replace it. But the motherboard does not have AHCI support and hence, no TRIM support either.

So would the SSD performance decrease after a year or two because I can't enable TRIM or would the firmware or the software that comes with the SSD, for example, the Samsung Magician one, be enough to sustain the SSD performance overtime without TRIM?

I don't really need much storage on that system as it mainly gets used by my mother for web browsing and some office work. So getting a 64 or 120 GB SSD is ideal instead of a 500 GB hard drive. So, should I buy one or just get a good old hard drive?

Great! Thank you all. I'll be buying the 840 Evo. The Crucial one isn't available here.  :(
