I bet if they let HAL fold for a day then it would do all the folding that all the current folding machines do in a year. Then people could actually turn off their computers and save the planet by not wasting power by leaving their computer on. Only things that HAVE to be constantly on should fold such as servers. People that leave their computer on overnight just to fold are doing more damage than good because of the power wastage.

 

The FAH network provides 45 petaflops of computing power (at time of writing), which is substantially larger than the worlds fastest non-distrubuted super computer the Tianhe-2, coming in at 33.86 petaflops.

 

I find it disturbing how you prefer to support the ridiculous notion of "saving the planet by turning your computer off" rather than the excellent idea of using your computer to potentially help save lives.
