These are my considerations for the monitor i want

Probably this one ? https://www.bizgram.com.sg/webshaper/store/viewProd.asp?pkProductItem=1151

I'm sure there will be better options

that one has a terrible stand.

i like @Janne 's suggestion a whole lot more, and its a better panel.

Intel 3570k 3,4@4,5 1,12v Scythe Mugen 3 gigabyte 770     MSi z77a GD55    corsair vengeance 8 gb  corsair CX600M Bitfenix Outlaw 4 casefans

@coen113 for your budget you could afford to get a 1440p display. I'll go and look for some and report back with my findings. :)

Hi guys, thanks for taking your time out to help me! I've been eyeing the Asus PA248Q for quite some time now but it's priced at around 550+ and a little over my budget. Another monitor I've been eyeing is the dell UltraSharp U2412M. apart from these two monitors i didnt have anything else catch my eye. At the moment the Asus PA248Q is what i would get but i would love to discover other possible alternatives. Thanks again guys!

No worries mate, it's a pleasure! :)

So, you don't mind going with a 16:10 aspect ratio monitor? Because if you don't, I would encourage you to save a tad more and go with the PA248Q or even its twin, the PB248Q. They've gotten some decent reviews. Plus they are more professional oriented monitors so they should produce decent and accurate colours for you.

Hmm i haven't really given thought to the aspect ratio of the monitor though. Whats difference would i fell between a 1920 x 1200 and a 1920 x 1080? I'm also primarily using this monitor for casual gaming (League of legends mostly) and perhaps some work (rarely) But primarily i'm getting one for the purpose of gaming.

Also, what does the PB248Q have over the PA248Q?

Well, for one, you get an extra 120 pixels of resolution extra virtically. This is mainly good for productivity.

Well, in that case, you'll probably wanna stick with 16:9 1920x1080 res monitors as, because of the way games work, you'll loose a bit of the picture left and right of the screen. So you'd be at a disadvantage in games as your field of view would be decreased by about 10%.

Also, what does the PB248Q have over the PA248Q?

Well, it's not quite like that. The PA248Q comes factory calibrated for accurate colour, which is good, however, several uses have complained about the USB 3.0 ports malfunctioning and an usual high pitch noise coming from the monitor. The PB248Q isn't quite the successor to the PA248Q as it doesn't come factory calibrated. The successor is in fact the PA249Q. But it retails for as much as the PB278Q. I hope that clears things up. :)

It does clear things up quite alot haha. In that case, what monitor would you recommend that fits my needs and budget the most?

Okay, I'll have to think about this and get back to you. Your budget is certainly $400 USD max?

Yes, but i would be willing to exceed it by just a little if the cost is justifiable.

Get a QNIX 1440p monitor. They are built very well and use samsung panels, and they kick butt for the price.
