ASUS Z97-Pro wifi backwards compatible?

My Q is about: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-z97prowifiac

 

According to http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z97PROWiFi_ac/ it uses 802.11ac would this be backwards compatible with previous standards like 'n'? I'm pretty sure my router cannot transfer data over ac.

 

sorry for all the hyper nerds if my terminology is incorrect - i haven't studied wifi standards...yet. :P

It's backwards compatible. 802.11n will be around for a while still.

Yep it's backwards compatible.
